This wallet has the usual exceptional high quality of all SB/Love 41 products. However, it already looks like I've had it 41 years. It looks exactly like the on-line picture. I have a relatively small hand and this wallet has a nice fit and feel. Bills fit nicely and can't be seen once the wallet is closed. Which leads me to the next issue. I have only a drivers license, 1 credit card, medical card and 12 bills inside because it won't properly close with another card/cash. I have to put other cards/items in the coin holder. It seems you could probably either carry only cards or only cash and the wallet still close. I know that leather will stretch a little, so I'm hopeful that eventually I can carry a couple more cards. Another issue is that after a week of use, the two cards are bent. So I'm probably going to giving it to my 14 year old granddaughter who loves it.
My bifold wallet with the cord closure broke. It was not fixable. With their guarantee they replaced it with the new version. The toggle closure is so much better and stronger. I really like this wallet for the smaller purses, and love that it has RFID protection. This closure is a great improvement.
this wallet is tiny which is so awesome because it has forced me to pare down what i'm carrying around in my wallet. the toggle closure is no big deal at all! it's easy to close and very secure. i love the "secret" pouch and flap on the interior - such nice touches! the leather is beautiful! i'm so smitten with all of the SBL and Love41 products!! love!!!
I've been using this wallet for about 7.5 months, and going strong. I was a little concerned before I bought it about whether or not I would be able to fit all my cards in it with it only having 3 card slots. My old wallet had a half dozen or more slots, and they were all filled. But I've found I can keep important (but not always needed) insurance cards behind my id, and I carry about 3 cards in each of the 3 card slots without excessive stretching. If I get gift cards I put them in the "secret" pocket behind the coin purse so I don't forget about them, or in the main bill section, and I've been motivated to purge unnecessary extra cards. I love the flap in the bill section - I'm always stashing a couple of extra bills there - mainly to hide them from MYSELF so I don't spend my last dollar. About the toggle closure that other reviewers have commented on - yes, for the first few months it really was difficult and time-consuming to manipulate the toggle through the loop. I've found now that the loop has stretched and softened just a wee bit - enough that it is no longer a struggle. I guess it just needs to be broken in. There is wear on the loop from the constant friction in opening and closing, and I can easily see how it may end up wearing through at some point - I agree that it is the weakest point in the whole wallet. BUT - with the 41 year warranty, I imagine if this ever becomes an issue it will be taken care of by Love 41's excellent customer service team. I love this wallet - it's the perfect size and functionality for me.
Update about my 12/15/2015 review:
My worst fear about the bi-fold wallet closure just came true. After 5 months of daily usage, the loop suddenly ripped and there is now a GAPING HOLE where the toggle closure loop connects to the coin purse. I am gutted :(
Love this wallet! It fits perfectly in my crossbody Love 41 bag. I love the look of it and I get a lot of compliments on it. The cards are easy enough to get in and out, and I love all the hidden compartments! Perfect for hiding a few dollars cash and a few blank checks. I rarely keep cash on me, but now I always have a few dollars if need be.
The only issue I have with this wallet is the closure! Prepare to get on the struggle bus if you want to keep it fastened and expect to open it in a hurry while in line at Costco. You will get the staredown from everyone as you struggle to open your wallet. I quickly learned it's easier to just keep it unfastened all the time. Same with closing it. You'll be the equivalent of the little old lady writing out a check in Old English handwriting in the checkout line if you expect to fasten quickly in line at Costco once you're they hand back your Costco card. Just give up and keep it unfastened. I think I will take the wallet into my local leather shop and see if he can fashion a different kind of fastener. The fastener on the coin pouch works great!
Other than the awkward closure of this wallet I absolutely love it and would recommend it to everyone!
I've always been on the lookout for the perfect wallet. I started moving away from typical ladies wallets years ago when I realized that they were all just built to look pretty or match outfits, but they never last longer than a year or two. After going through so many "pretty" wallets, I finally decided to start buying men's wallets because I found that at least those were built to last. I wanted a wallet that would last me YEARS.
So you could imagine how thrilled I was discovered Love 41's bi-fold wallet. It had everything I wanted in a wallet: good construction, a deep bill pocket (with a bonus secret pocket!), multiple card slots, RFID protection, an ID slot (no plastic), AND a coin pocket - plus it was pretty! The only con is it has a very awkward closure. I've had it for about 2 months and I still struggle to open and close it because it has this little bar (made of rolled up leather) that has to be looped through a sort of cord. It requires some twisting and pulling, and I'm afraid that one day either the bar or the cord will rip right off! So sometimes I don't bother to close it properly, and I just keep it folded closed. It's definitely a wallet that's built to last, but the closure is definitely the flimsiest part of the wallet.
I bought this wallet to use with my smaller dark coffee brown bags from Saddleback Leather and Love41. It fits perfectly in my bags and does exactly what I need it to. I love that it has a closure on it so everything stays secure and I don't have to worry about stuff falling out of my wallet.
The look of this wallet is top notch. I love the brushed, kind of rugged look of the dark coffee brown and the tobacco lining really sets it off nicely. I've gotten quite a few compliments on it as well.
This wallet is definitely worth the price and I love the fact that it has a 41 yr warranty. If anything happens to the one I currently have ( knock on wood ) I will definitely come back and get another one.
