Have you or anyone else ever wondered if your leather bag was really vinyl?
How can I get my spouse to understand that I need this?
Here's your rationale: Buy the best, cry once. It's all about the cost per year. In college, I bought a pair of very expensive shoes for my job as a waiter. I couldn't afford them, but I bought them anyhow. They were really light and comfortable and took me through two years of waiting tables and one year as a limo driver and another year of occasional use. And then they still looked good for a month of Sundays. Cost per year was about $25. Most of the other waiters bought a new pair of $55 heavy and uncomfortable shoes every 6 months because theirs wore out and looked ratty by then. One of the principles the successful in the world understand is this: If one buys quality from the start they save money. Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish. This will be one of the most savvy investments and inexpensive leather pieces you'll ever have. And remember, you must truly love yourself before you can love others. A couple of other things to think about you'll be more popular. Everybody isn't buying one. I'll invite you to my birthday party. What's wrong, you chicken?
Which color should I get?
Pick the one that fits who you are. I've observed what the bag owners tend to be like based on the color they have chosen over the years. The category below that fits you best is probably the color you'll enjoy most. Remember, your first inclination is usually the correct one.

Can the shoulder strap be adjusted for my size?
Yes, I've put in extra holes in the shoulder strap for men just like you. You can also take the strap to a shoe repair person and have them take out the rivet that holds the clip on, cut the appropriate amount of leather off and rivet the clip on again. I make the strap long enough for anyone to wear and easy to tailored for a custom fit. They do the same with quality suits.
Are the animals tortured before they are slaughtered?
Absolutely not ! With some pigs we do use waterboarding and sensory deprivation techniques previous to slaughtering them, but the cows do not require any special handling.
Where can I see one of the bags in person?
I don't have any of the items in stores and we're not big fans of folks coming to our home in San Antonio because of the weirdo factor. My sister, Patricia and her husband (my Chess and Scrabble nemesis), send out the leather from their place near Ft. Worth, Texas, but again, because of the weirdo factor they're not set up to show either. If it helps, everyone tells me that they look better in person.
How much do they cost you, Dave?
Well, I lived for three years in a $100 a month apartment in Mexico with no hot water, because of these bags. My dog, Blue, and I drove for thousands of hours all over the North American continent because of these bags. I had a crooked Federale sent to kill me because of these bags (I convinced him that Señor Alarcon would never pay him) and we became friends). I've shed gallons of blood and tears and sweat and at least a quart of other people's, because of these bags. I've slept in my car or on the rack of my old Land Cruiser at least 150 times because of these bags. I've lost weeks of sleep and have gone hungry for days because of these bags. I was broke for years and even had to trade two of Blue's little puppies for a month's worth of tacos in order to eat because of these bags. I've been detained by who knows how many Mexican police because of these bags. I've thrown away thousands of dollars and made hundreds of mistakes because of these bags. I've been stolen from, taken advantage of and robbed because of these bags (they even stole Blue once, but I got him back). All of these things and more have happened to me because of these bags. They cost me a lot.
Perfect for my needs
I use my pocket size day timer daily. It is my calendar, to do list, and expense keeper all in one. Even in this technological world. I still like to write things down in a planner. I have the classic medium briefcase, and wanted something to keep the day timer in that I could quickly get to without going into the briefcase all the time. The Pouch fits this perfect. I have is clicked to the handled of the brief case. It is chestnut to match the briefcase. The back pocket is great for the next month calendar. I always keep it that way so I can change it out easily at the end of the month. You can click the Pouch to the side of the briefcase via the D rings as well. The Pouch looks great on the brief case. I have been extremely happy with all the products I have from Saddleback Leather. They are so worth the price, and will last a lifetime.
Very convenient
I wear my Saddleback pouch when I go to trade shows, fairs and places like the arboretum and botanic garden. It's very convenient for carrying just what you need (small wallet, keys, sunglasses, tickets, etc.). I am tall for a woman (5'10") so I really appreciate that the strap can be made long enough that it hangs at my hip and not up uncomfortably high. I can't usually find long enough straps in cross-body bags made for women, because most women are much shorter than I am. The pouch is stylish, comfortable to wear and is really tough leather, so I don't have to worry about sweat, rain, dirt or anything else. I love it.
Saddleback is World Class!
I've always liked quality leather products, so I don't know how Saddleback has escaped my attention all these years. No other company even comes close to Saddleback quality. I googled "leather cigar pouches" the other night and stumbled to the Saddleback web site. Found the pouch and wondered if it would meet my needs of holding a few cigars, a cutter and a lighter. I decided to email customer service and pose the question. To illustrate the kind of company Saddleback is, Kelly in CS replied that I should check out Vanderbugh's leather humidor. Now, Saddleback makes the leather pouch for Vanderburgh's leather humidor, but can you imagine many (or any) other companies that would recommend you buy elsewhere, simply because they were trying to best meet my needs? Wow! Anyway, I did check out the Vanderburgh site but decided I simply liked Saddleback product quality (and the company "vibe") much better. I ordered the pouch in chestnut. it arrived the other day and it is fantastic. Holds 5-6 cigars and related paraphernailia, and I'm sure it will hold more after I break it in a bit. I followed up by ordering 5 more items, but that's another story! Thank you Dave and all the Saddleback family!
What Can I Say? It's a Saddleback.
I just received my pouch in dark coffee brown. I picked it up on impulse from Dave's Deals and as usual I couldn't find the supposed flaw that warranted the discount, but I'm not complaining. I bought it mainly to clip on to my Classic Briefcase, as I just don't see myself wearing it with the strap. (I think it's because I'm afraid that one of the immature (like me) guys I work with will be all over the "murse" or "man bag" aspect, and it just ain't worth the aggravation.) Back to the pouch, however. As usual, it's awesome Saddleback quality. I took the time to bend it up good and put some character in the leather. I'll be traveling to Nashville next week and China shortly thereafter, so it'll be seeing the world.
Great Pouch
I have been using my pouch for a few weeks now and find it to be perfect trips requiring a lot of walking. I also have the round satchel that I carry for work and have found that this pouch fits perfectly in the satchel so I can simply pull it out & go if I'm only needing a few basic essentials.
Now if only a larger pouch of the same design would be created I'd be all over it!!! Something large enough that would fit an iPad (not the mini)
Problem is now I want every color.
Great Pouch!
Just received my pouch yesterday, which was my first purchase. On the heels of that arrived my briefcase thin and my iPad mini case! :) As for the pouch, I can't wait to put it in use. The only initial observation is I'm not sure how this could ever hold an iPad mini (without a case) but other than that, it's great!
Best Bag EVER!!!
There are two things I never leave the house without wearing. 1) clean underwear 2) my Saddleback round satchel. I've owned this bag for years and couldn't be happier. I truly believe this thing is indestructible; it's been comfortably on my shoulder from Tahiti to Scotland and more. Check out the list of things that all comfortably fit in my medium satchel at one time:
iPad, iPhone and all cables and recharging devices, various pens and pencils, wallet, reading glasses, sunglasses, camera, 5 cigar carrier, cigar cutters, clipper and lighter, comb, nail clippers, energy bars, hand sanitizer, tissues, pocket knife, small first aid kit, business card holder, sketch book, an occasional magazine and my tattoo machines' these are daily things I carry without even using the back or side pockets yet! Let me see you try and put all that in your pants pockets!!!
Guys, do yourself a big favor; stop walking around with all that crap in your pockets. It's not comfortable and looks terrible! BTW; it's been proven that sitting on your wallet is terrible for your back, put the dang thing in your satchel!!!
Boutique / Couturier chic married to cowboy saddle's durability
Having owned a Classic Travel Case, I was looking for something a bit more sporty and compact to use when I need to run local errands without carrying an extra bulk with me.
This piece fits the bill perfectly, as it's flawlessly executed and is superbly elegant in its Spartan simplicity and minimalist practicality.
To fully appreciate its design and flawless workmanship, that instantly resonated with me the moment I saw it, I had to first spend countless hours on the web encountering pretty much more of the same garden variety items, not even remotely as good as this one.
I only wish for 3 small design improvements: 1 - The closure design, as was mentioned here, could be revised. Perhaps, a shiny statement-type buckle or something similar would be nice though nothing too effeminate. :) 2 Dimensions-wise I'd make it about an inch or two longer and wider it would make it even more practical and more masculine. 3 - Wish you could offer shoulder straps in various lengths, as I don't like mine too long (as I don't wear it across the chest) and after adjusting it for my preference, I still don't like having extra 'tail' hanging even if there's a way to curl the extra length inward -- just not my style. :)
Decent bag
I have three of these. If I were to change any one thing about this item, it would be to use a strap/buckle closure instead of whatever one calls what's on it now. Other than that, great bag.
had long time
I have had this pouch for a long time. I use it for a bunch of things. Mt wife teases me about my "murse" but i wear it anyways. I have coonskin cap so I can pretend I am Davy Crocket. My wife has carried for a small purse at times. Very versatile and stylish. It complements my other saddleback carry pieces. Like accessorized art. Get one and enjoy.
sweet
I just received the pouch!I do believe you can be hooked with just one purchase.good going dave.
Tool Kit
The Pouch is the perfect size for keeping a woodcarving kit. In it fits my current small carving project and all of my handtools--chisles, gouges, and knives. Very tough inner. Just grab and go. I have also used this for my sketch kit as well as it holds pencils, torchons, erasers, and small sketchbook.
Great bag
This is an exceptional bag from an exceptional company. This holds my keys, wallet, knife, phone, pen, and camera every day. The bag should last me much longer than the warranty is good for, so I hope my grandchildren take good care of it. The only thing I can possibly see going wrong on it is the closure. That single piece of leather can get worn out to the point where it may break. But I've had mine for half a year now, and no regrets on buying it. As soon as I turn 18 I'm going to be purchasing much more from Saddleback!
