Tow Belt - 1.5" Wide

• Three leather belts in one - Bottom belt is a smooth vegetable tanned leather so it slides on and off easy. Top belt is chrome tanned for look and feel. The hidden middle belt is also vegetable tanned leather for added firmness. I refuse to use reconstituted leather (leather cardboard) even if it's out of sight in the middle, even if it lowers costs. It doesn't seem right. The two visible belts are plenty strong enough, but why not make it stronger in case you need to tow a train one day?
• ¾" between holes - Not too tight or loose since holes are ¾" apart instead of the standard 1".
• 9 holes start 2" from tip - Standard is 5 holes starting 4" from tip. 9 holes to account for weight gain / loss. 2" from tip, to account for Christmas dinner.
• Middle belt hidden inside - Slightly raises leather level above stitching so thread won't rub on jeans and wear away.
• Industrial thick polyester marine-grade thread that sun can't deteriorate.
• The last of our polished buckles are shipping now. I decided to switch to a cool new antique finish buckle that has a tarnished, weathered, old-school look. They’re both really great buckles.

• Sizing Up Your Belt – Here's the short version: If you wear a size 36" jeans, order a size 36 belt. That should put you at the sixth hole of my belts, which is the perfect fit, but also allows for the occasional diet or big Thanksgiving dinner.
• How Saddleback Sizing Works – If you wear a size 36" jeans, and you thread a measuring tape through your belt loops like a belt, you'll get a measurement between 37" and 38". That's why a size 36 Saddleback belt actually measures 38" at the hole where you wear it. On my belts, that's the sixth hole in from the tip (see measurement "A" on the drawing).
  
  I started the holes two inches from the tip of the belt. Most other belts start the holes four inches in. Those first two holes are just-in-case holes. In a pinch, a good belt can be used for a lot more than holding your pants up. So I thought I might as well design it to be as useful as possible.
  
  On most belts, the holes are spaced one inch apart. On my Saddleback belts, the belt holes are ¾" apart. It's a small detail that will make your Saddleback belt fit just a little bit better than other belts.
  
  If you want to be absolutely sure on sizing, just pull out one of your belts that fits you well and follow these steps:
• Step 1  Measure your belt from where the buckle meets the leather to the hole that fits you best. I've found that on my belts, the sixth hole in from the tip works the best (see measurement "A" in the illustration).
• Step 2  Match that length to the size chart below. Keep in mind that my belts are made from thick leather so the exact size may vary by ¼".

• Width – 1.5" and 1.75"
• Thickness – 5.5mm - 6mm. Variation with each belt occurs because old bulls vary in size. Each belt varies in thickness from one end to the other. It's just the way leather works.
• Buckle – The buckle length measures approximately 2" (5.2cm).

You'll slowly shake your head and say, "Man, was that guy right or what". And then you'll slightly squint, press your lips together and give a few small nods. I tell you what, buy it now or kick yourself later.

I've made this for you to break in. It'll take a few months until it really starts to look cool, and you'll have to use it a lot. In fact, the more you use it, the better it looks (and it already looks great). It'll eventually form to the places on your body it touches regularly. The edges will soften and round some to become even more chic and classic looking than it already does.

Where can I see one of these cases in person?

I don't have any of the items in stores and we're not big fans of folks coming to our home because of the weirdo factor. My sister, Patricia, and her husband (my Chess and Scrabble nemesis) send out the leather from their place near Ft. Worth, Texas. But again, because of the weirdo factor, they don't want you dropping by there either. If it helps, everyone tells me that they're much more impressed with them in person.

Pick the one that fits who you are. I've observed what the bag owners tend to be like by the colors they've chosen over the years. The category below that fits you best is probably the color you'll enjoy most. Remember, your first inclination is usually the correct one.

Are the animals tortured before they are slaughtered?

Absolutely not! With some pigs we do use waterboarding and sensory deprivation techniques previous to slaughtering them, but the cows do not require any special handling.

How much do these leather things cost you, Dave?

Well, I lived for three years in a $100 a month apartment in Mexico with no hot water, because of these bags. My dog, Blue, and I drove for thousands of hours all over the North American continent because of these bags. I had a crooked Federale sent to kill me because of these bags (I convinced him that Senor Alarcon would never pay him) and we became friends). I've shed gallons of blood and tears and sweat and at least a quart of other people's, because of these bags. I've slept in my car or on the rack of my old Land Cruiser at least 150 times because of these bags. I've lost weeks of sleep and have gone hungry for days because of these bags. I was broke for years and even had to trade two of Blue's little puppies for a month's worth of tacos in order to eat because of these bags.
