Very thin because there's no lining, just tough leather and tough thread
Hole in bottom to push up cards and folded cash
100 Year warranty - If it goes before you do, we'll fix it or replace it for free. Heck, have your great grandchildren talk to my great grandchildren and we'll take care of them too. Only for 100 years though.
Leather - Only thick Full grain leather; not weaker Top grain, Genuine or Bonded. The top layer has the toughest and tightest fibers of the leather (grain) and the pores that take in your oils when touched. That's why full grain ages so nicely. It's a shame when they shave off that top layer and paint it to get rid of imperfections.
Industrial thread - Stout industrial marine-grade Polyester UV resistant thread. It's used for airbags, sails, work boots and other heavy-duty applications. There's none that I know of that's better. I keep an extra spool in my truck for towing.
Fully tanned leather - The reputable tanneries remove all natural oils and preservatives from the hide and then soak and tumble the hides for up to 20 hrs. to replace them. Cheap tanneries only tumble them long enough to color the surface and leave the middle to dry up and crack. Boots are normally made of 1.8mm - 2.0mm thick leather. Our leather is 2.0mm - 2.2mm. And, our leather isn't "buttery soft" (fibers separated and broken down by hours of tumbling and stretching at the tannery). It's your job to tenderize it with use.
Dimensions: 3.5" x 2.5" (9cm x 6.5cm)
1 simple card slot and can hold probably 12 cards and some folded up cash once it's stretched out.
Sturdy double zero continuous filament Polyester marine grade industrial thread
Hypoallergenic 4-5 oz. (2.0 - 2.2 mm) thick chrome tanned leather. Boots are normally made of 1.8mm - 2.0mm thick leather. And, our leather isn't "buttery soft" (fibers separated and broken down by hours of tumbling and stretching at the tannery). It's your job to tenderize it with use.

Are the animals tortured before they are slaughtered?
Absolutely not! With some pigs we do use waterboarding and sensory deprivation techniques previous to slaughtering them, but the cows do not require any special handling.
Where can I see one of the wallets in person?
I don't have any of the items in stores and we're not big fans of folks coming to our home in San Antonio because of the weirdo factor. My sister, Patricia and her husband (my Chess and Scrabble nemesis), send out the leather from their place near Ft. Worth, Texas, but again, because of the weirdo factor they're not set up to show either. If it helps, everyone tells me that they look better in person.
fabulous exactly what I had hoped for
Fabulous product, extremely well made, very fast shipping. Exactly as described, better than anticipated. Can not say enough good things about the craftsmanship and quality. Perfect fit for several cards and some cash.
Exactly what I was looking for!
I wanted a simple front pocket wallet that would hold 3-4 cards. I searched the ends of the internet trying to find what I wanted, to no avail. Every front pocket wallet or card sleeve I found had a money clip, which I did not want for two reasons: a) I never carry cash b) it adds to the thickness of the wallet. I was nearly ready to make a purchase on an Australian brand, but was reluctant because it was pretty expensive and only backed by a 3 year warranty.
A friend of mine then recommended this Saddleback card sleeve. It was EXACTLY what I wanted, less than 1/3 of the price of the brand I was considering, and backed by a lifetime warranty. It has a low profile so it's nearly invisible in your front pocket. The leather is thick and the stitching is solid, making it durable enough for a back pocket, too.
I've had it for two months now and I show it off to everyone. The dark coffee brown is beautiful and compliments any attire - casual, dress, even formal. It becomes more malleable with time without any loss in durability. Not a lot of noticeable weathering yet, but the leather will pick up oils from your hands, dings and dents from other objects in your pockets, etc. Those kinds of things give it character and make it a unique piece.
It's rare that I review a product, but I highly enjoy this card sleeve and felt it was necessary to give credit when credit is due. To anyone reading this review & considering purchasing this - have complete faith.. I promise you that you'll get a quality product, and you'll also be supporting an artisan in his craft.
Differences
I received my orders today. I bought 2 classic wallet sleeves, one black 1 dark coffee brown. The shapes were nice but they looked like they were made from different materials and didn't look like the photos from what I see from other reviews of them at all.

Slim & Slick
I don't carry a wallet, I bought this to use as a business card holder to be tucked away in an iPad case somewhere. When I got it in the mail, it looked, felt, and smelled great, so I had to carry it around with me for a few days.
Excellent front pocket design, very high quality leather with a nice embossed 'Saddleback' emblazoned on the front. Very smooth, easy to get cards in & out. I normally carry one or two cards loose in my front pocket. This wallet is almost as invisible in a pocket as those two cards. Well worth the money, buy it.
The Best, Really
I bought this one after my old one (some off brand, shiny black thing with a metal money clip that ate holes through three pockets in three pairs of pants like a hungry caterpillar) 'wore out'.
No comparison. None.
This is a wonderful looking, well-built work of art in the shape of a wallet. I hesitate to say rugged, although I am sure that it is tough, because that would make you think that it is not elegant. Its simplicity, thick leather, and tight stitching buoy its obvious elegance and guarantee years of use.
I am probably going to buy a black one, too.
I really love it.
A Great Simple Wallet
I've been carrying this wallet for about two months now. I was looking for slim wallet to replace my old bifold, and the wallet sleeve was what I was looking for. It's a very simple design, light weight, and great looking. It's hardly noticeable in my pocket, and it's light and slim enough to carry in the chest pocket of a suit coat.
The wallet was very stiff at first, but it only took about a week or so to get past that initial break-in stage, and it continues to soften and get better looking. I only carry 3 cards and 1-3 folded bills. Now that it's softened up a bit there's no difficulty sliding the cards in and out.
If you're the type who doesn't use a lot a cash and doesn't use you wallet as a file-folder for receipts, ticket stubs, photos, etc., then this wallet is a great option, but if that is you, then this wallet is not right for you.
Also, it's the least expensive leather product that Saddleback current sells. This is your gateway to quality leather.
Great Single Pocket Design!
I purchased this wallet three months ago as I was searching for a very minimal designed wallet for some cards and a small about of cash. At first, like with any leather product, it was very tough to get cards in and out. It did not take very long to break in. The wallet really does get better with age and I see this on a weekly basis. My load will vary from week to week and the wallet forms perfectly to whatever I need. I have tried a lot of other wallets (from some very high-end brands) and this is the best.
Inexpensive alternative
I own the window wallet and I use this one for my drivers license and nod debit card. Perfect for those occasions where you don't need everything plus the kitchen sink when you go out.
Great buy... my forth product from Dave. More to follow...team, simplicity matters and cannot ever be replaced. Bravo!
Couldn't recommend it more!
I would first off like to honor the pig and the cow that gave their lives so that Saddleback could turn their skin into something that is not only an amazing product but is approaching the level of a work of art. If God himself had handed this wallet to me in a vision with a promise of it one day giving me the answers to life...I would be no less impressed. BUY IT!!! It is an amazing wallet/cardholder. I love how well it is made and how well it is holding up. It smells great and feels solid. It loosens up after a few weeks. I will continue to shop here and purchase their awesome products.
Best wallet purchase I ever made
Legitimately the best wallet I've owned. I carry cash in my other pocket anyways because I make tips at my job and 40 ones doesn't fit in any wallet. I have probably ten cards in mine and they stay there securely until I want to remove them.
I use it every day.
I use another Saddleback wallet for my ID, cash, and cards. I I use this to carry a challenge coin. The coin has started to wear an imprint into the leather, which I really like. It is slowly breaking in and becoming softer and more supple with use. It really is awesome.
Superb
I have lower back problems and was looking to downsize my wallet by carrying only what i need on a daily basis. This leather wallet sleeve was just what i need. It holds a few cards and folded cash until it softens and then it will hold a few more! Its quality and construction appear to be first rate too. Cant wait to give it to my grandchildren in about 20 years so they can give it to theirs.!
Perfect
Exactly what I was looking for. Simple, big enough for an ID and a few credit cards, beautiful leather, and top notch construction. Invisible in my pocket, and unlike bulky wallets, when I sit down, I don't even realize it's there. No more lower back problems from sitting on a bulky wallet!
