How can I get my spouse to understand that I need this?
Here's your rationale: Buy the best, cry once. It's all about the cost per year. In college, I bought a pair of very expensive shoes for my job as a waiter. I couldn't afford them, but I bought them anyhow. They were really light and comfortable and took me through two years of waiting tables and one year as a limo driver and another year of occasional use. And then they still looked good for a month of Sundays. Cost per year was about $25. Most of the other waiters bought a new pair of $55 heavy and uncomfortable shoes every 6 months because theirs wore out and looked ratty by then. One of the principles the successful in the world understand is this: If one buys quality from the start they save money. Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish. This will be one of the most savvy investments and inexpensive leather pieces you'll ever have. And remember, you must truly love yourself before you can love others. A couple of other things to think about you'll be more popular. Everybody isn't buying one. I'll invite you to my birthday party. What's wrong, you chicken?
Which color should I get?
Pick the one that fits who you are. I've observed what the bag owners tend to be like based on the color they have chosen over the years. The category below that fits you best is probably the color you'll enjoy most. Remember, your first inclination is usually the correct one.

Are the animals tortured before they are slaughtered?
Absolutely not ! With some pigs we do use waterboarding and sensory deprivation techniques previous to slaughtering them, but the cows do not require any special handling.
Where can I see one of the bags in person?
I don't have any of the items in stores and we're not big fans of folks coming to our home in San Antonio because of the weirdo factor. My sister, Patricia and her husband (my Chess and Scrabble nemesis), send out the leather from their place near Ft. Worth, Texas, but again, because of the weirdo factor they're not set up to show either. If it helps, everyone tells me that they look better in person.
How much do they cost you, Dave?
Well, I lived for three years in a $100 a month apartment in Mexico with no hot water, because of these bags. My dog, Blue, and I drove for thousands of hours all over the North American continent because of these bags. I had a crooked Federale sent to kill me because of these bags (I convinced him that Señor Alarcon would never pay him) and we became friends). I've shed gallons of blood and tears and sweat and at least a quart of other people's, because of these bags. I've slept in my car or on the rack of my old Land Cruiser at least 150 times because of these bags. I've lost weeks of sleep and have gone hungry for days because of these bags. I was broke for years and even had to trade two of Blue's little puppies for a month's worth of tacos in order to eat because of these bags. I've been detained by who knows how many Mexican police because of these bags. I've thrown away thousands of dollars and made hundreds of mistakes because of these bags. I've been stolen from, taken advantage of and robbed because of these bags (they even stole Blue once, but I got him back). All of these things and more have happened to me because of these bags. They cost me a lot.
Hands Free!
This is the perfect flea market/antique shopping bag because it's hands free when worn cross body, has plenty of room for essentials and it's practically weightless so it doesn't tire you out, even after a long day walking. I carry my mobile phone in the inside pocket, and I carry a couple of medicine bottles, keys, credit card wallet, compact, lipstick and gloss, eye drops and mints and there's a bit of room to spare. The back pocket is handy for parking tickets or receipts. The bag itself is super cute and well made. I got dark coffee brown and it works with everything. I love the ease of carrying this beauty! One thing, minor though, I would like the strap to be a little longer because I'm long waisted but overall it's exceptional.
*Almost* perfect
This is a small, small bag. That in itself is fine. The strap is a bit short for me to use it as a cross-body purse. Instead, I use it as a camera case for my point and shoot. Much more stylish than my old nylon bag. My only complaint is that I wish it was just a little wider, so that my Slim Wallet (also from Saddleback) would fit in it. The slim wallet is actually too long to fit in this bag.
Jealous
Bought this in tobacco brown for my wife and she loves it. Problem is I love it too. Bought one to use (with modifications) as a "fanny pack" for myself.
Wanted to love it
I really, really wanted to love this purse. As an owner of several Saddleback Leather pieces, their quality and design stand head and shoulders above the competition. I own the big wallet, large tote, and small pad holder. So, when I received the clutch, I was not looking to be disappointed. The purse has a small coin pocket that attaches to the underside of purse's front flap. The first thing I saw when I removed the purse from the packaging was the unattractive square on the outside of the purse from where the coin pocket attaches. It's rather hard to describe. The photo does a better job of illustrating. The attachment points are very obvious in the tobacco color and made me think that the protrusion through the leather might be perfect dirt magnets. I had no problems returning the bag for a full refund. I can't recommend this bag, but I can highly recommend the pieces I do have. And customer service is par excellence.
Elegant protection
First product purchased, for my hot wife. She absolutely loved it. Compared the design characteristics to her horse saddles, just much more elegant. Can keep and protect what she needs most often while out and about!
Delightful Design
First of all, I am a very selective shopper who appreciates thoughtfully designed, high quality products. That's not to say that I'm wealthy, by any means. However, once I discovered Saddleback's products I carefully researched their products, read every review, and watched every video I could find before taking the plunge and selecting one of these gorgeous, well-designed Leather Clutch Purses. I appreciated the thought that went into designing this purse, from the ingenious latch on the front, to the clever coin/lip balm compartment and internal pocket, and outside back pocket, to the adjustable strap, Suzette's design does everything right. I was a bit skittish about the price since I'm an outdoorsy, not-quite-reformed tomboy (my husband loves me anyway) who isn't a regular purse carrier. However, once I received my beautiful black clutch purse....I immediately ordered another one in dark coffee brown. I mean, literally immediately went online and ordered it because the design and quality of this purse is so amazing. If you're on the fence about purchasing one of these beauties, take the plunge and click "Add to Cart". You will congratulate yourself for making a great decision the moment you see this product in person.
