Hey, Dave with Saddleback Leather here. I was looking at this Dunnottar Castle here, which was built in A.D. 600-and-something on the northeast coast of Scotland. If you look up close, you’ll see it’s REALLY well made. This castle gets storm after storm after storm and just weathers them. Not perfectly, obviously—there were cannonballs and fires and stuff—but through the centuries this thing has held up really well.
I’m guessing it was just in them to make it really well so it would last for a long time. Not this long, probably, but it’s just in some people to make things really well. It’s not natural to make things really cheaply. I don’t get it. Why do people make things so cheaply? It’s almost wrong, if you think about it. So anyway, do what’s natural. When you do something, do it right. Edge the grass. Do it right, like the Scots (if they were Scots back then). When they made a castle, they made it REALLY well.

I agree with Dave. I too like to make things really well and was taught as a kid to get good quality shoes, clothes, tools, cars, etc...because they last and in the long run probably end up being cheaper. Also, I greatly enjoy seeing the quality and craftsmanship in things. Maybe that's why i'm so attracted to Saddleback leather :) I am enjoying your videos from around the world. Keep posting! Maybe someday we will meet....i would like that. Num. 6:24

How true; I don't agree, though, about it being natural to do things well; that's why we count the Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos and Dave Munsons on the fingers of one hand!
