100 Year Warranty - Have your great grandchildren talk to my great grandchildren and we'll fix it or replace it for free. Only for 100 years though. Not like your phone will last that long, but you’ll use it for lots of things over the years.
No Breakable Parts - I made this iPhone 5 case with no zippers, snaps, buttons or any other breakable parts to fail or scratch your phone. How much is a billion dollar submarine worth with a cardboard hatch?
Industrial Thread - Stout industrial marine-grade Polyester UV resistant thread. It’s used for airbags, sails, work boots and other heavy-duty applications. I ought to keep an extra spool in my truck for towing.
Fully tanned leather - Good tanneries remove all natural oils and preservatives from the hide and then replenish them with high quality synthetics and oils. Then they soak and tumble it for up to twenty hours until the new colors and oils reach the middle. Cheap tanneries only tumble them long enough to color the surface and leave the middle to dry up and crack.
Simple Design - Just in case your iPhone 5 doesn’t last the rest of your life, I designed this case to be a good size to fit lots of other things over the next 100 years. This leather iPhone 5 case is about as simple as it gets. Just one piece of tough full-grain leather lined, folded and stitched. I try to design my stuff with a few large pieces of leather with as few seams as possible. The more seams the weaker it is because a seam is where the needle tore a bunch of holes in the leather and weakened it.
Leather - 100% hypoallergenic 4 to 5 ounce (2.0mm to 2.2mm) thick Full Grain chrome tanned leather. Usually, cowboy and work boots are made with 1.8mm - 2.0mm thickness. And, our leather isn't “buttery soft” (fibers separated and broken down by hours of tumbling and stretching at the tannery). It’s your job to tenderize it over the years.
Thread - The size zero continuous-filament Polyester thread we use is what is used on most boots. It’s impressive and expensive. Common thread is made of short little fibers wound together into one long thread. This thread is made of long continuous fibers that won't fall apart in a strong wind. Polyester thread is also the only thread I know of that doesn't deteriorate with exposure to the sun like Nylon or Kevlar.
Lining- Lined with tough pigskin for added structure and strength. Pigskin is the second strongest hide in the world, second to kangaroo.

Are the animals tortured before they are slaughtered?
Absolutely not! With some pigs we do use waterboarding and sensory deprivation techniques previous to slaughtering them, but the cows do not require any special handling.
Where can I see the leather in person?
I don't have any of the items in stores and we're not big fans of folks coming to our home in San Antonio because of the weirdo factor. My sister, Patricia and her husband (my Chess and Scrabble nemesis), send out the leather from their place near Ft. Worth, Texas, but again, because of the weirdo factor they're not set up to show either. If it helps, everyone tells me that they look better in person.
Tough as nails, doesn't quite cover everything
I don't know if I'm putting the phone in the case incorrectly or if the leather needs to stretch out or what, but I've had a ton of trouble getting my phone in and out of the case, and getting the case to cover the entire phone. The leather quality is amazing like every other Saddleback Leather product and I expect with conditioning and time the case will become a little less stiff. Great product, tough case, easy to charge the phone while in the case.
Beautiful....
I have just brought a new iPhone 5 in white and have a wooden Element Ronin Case around it. The reason why I mention the Element Case is because customers might think if they have an outer case on their phone, it might not fit inside. At the advice of customer service, I worked it with my hands a bit (because it was stiff as expected) and left the iPhone in it overnight to stretch it, it worked. The warm brown color of the Tobacco Brown compliments my white phone and wooden / nickel case just lovely. This case has everything. It is stylish, has a rich color, smooth feel, and is very durable. The pigskin lining really protects my phone. Living here in New York, "labels" are everything....unfortunately, I fell for that too at one point. I have gone through Kate Spade, Coach, and other designer accessories. They just didn't hold up. This case is so well built. I already have my Mother's Day gift wish picked out...the iPad case in Tobacco Brown :-). Thank you Dave and Saddleback.
Yours Truly,
Caren Simmons
Love the gadget pouches!
I have the gadget pouches in small, medium and large. All have their uses and are great to have for electronic gear. If I have one quibble, it's that you have to choose between your small gadget pouch OR something like Otterbox for your iPhone. Try as I might to stretch my small pouch just a little more (Even wedged an Altoid box in there -- so tight I had to use pliers and get help from a friend to get it out!) -- the little pouch remains just a bit too tight to fit my iPhone 4 with a Commuter Otterbox jacket on it. Why do I need both? Well, the Otterbox makes the phone easier to hold and makes me feel secure if I should drop it while holding it. But the Sadleback pouch is great looking, and also protects the screen from scratches while it's in my purse. I so, so wish I could make the pouch work with the Otterbox case. Anybody know whether wetting the leather would help it stretch, or would it shrink more?
An elegant iPhone needs a beautiful case as well.
I bought the older version of this case. I was so happy with its, simple design, guaranteed protection and great quality, I bought 2 more for myself and my girlfriend for our new iPhones. It also lets me use my iPhone as Apple intended. What better way to appreciate Apple's design is to use it as it is. So, this iPhone leather sleeve is more than enough to protect your loved gadgets.
It also never fails to catch anyone's attention when I bring it out.

Found it.
Bought it. Love it. Tough as my otterbox (probably tougher) but I get to use the thin beautiful iphone 5 as was intended in the first place.
Top notch gear and company. Zero complaints.
Great Product, Great Company!
Bought this iPhone 5 case and love it. Like the other reviewers have said, great product, AND it offers protection for my phone. I have several Saddleback products and cannot say enough good things about the company. It is refreshing to see someone like Dave, who ENJOYS his business. His videos make you want to buy his products, and admire someone who enjoys life AND work. HIGHLY recommend the iPhone 5 case and Saddleback Leather.
Leathery Awesomeness!
I just received my Saddleback Leather iPhone 5 case in Tobacco Brown. I love, Love, LOVE my new case. The quality is amazing with it's super thick cut full grain niceness!! I was kind of worried that the tobacco brown might be a little too light in color for my tastes, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it seems to be a little darker than the photos I've seen. It's just right! I was also concerned about how it would fit since I have a Ghost Armor skin attached to my phone. I was kinda worried that it may peel away at the skin but, lo and behold, the case really only touches the edges (bezel) of the phone where there is no skin attached. Awesome!!
Awesome iPhone 5 case
Great case- you will need to work with the leather a bit to soften it, but overall this is just a very high quality piece. I love the look, and I think the phone is very safe inside. Also, this is not the same kind of case that everybody else has, and I like that. Finally, I like to use the iPhone without a bulky case, so this offers great protection, great looks, and the ability to use the iPhone sans case. Love it!
What a great piece!
I bought the small gadget case for my iPhone 5 and didn't like the fit, so I contacted Saddleback and they allowed me to return it no questions asked, and gave me a gift certificate for the amount of this iPhone5 case. I absolutely love it and am glad it covers all of the edges of my iPhone 5, which was my only qualm about the small gadget case. Of course, now I wish I had kept the other case for my iPod classic, but that's my own fault.
I can't say enough good things about this company and the products they produce. I love all the pieces I own and happily tell others about your great company!
Perfect for iPod Touch 5th Gen
I got this for my iPod Touch 5th Gen which has the same dimensions of the iPhone 5 but it's thinner. It fits great in this case and doesn't fall out even though it's thinner. The leather is thicker than the classic wallet I also got and I think it'd protect it well if I ever drop it. I can't stand typical cases that snap on the back and usually offer no real protection, I much prefer these sleeve cases that just let you throw it around without worrying about it, yet let you use the device bare the way it was meant to be held.
Great iPhone Pouch
I used a small gadget pouch for my iPhone 4 prior to upgrading to the iPhone 5 and purchased this version when it released. I am a tobacco brown guy but plan on purchasing a DCB one as well for a change of pace occasionally. The pouch does a great job protecting your phone during transit (in and out of pockets, bags, cars, etc...) but also allows you to enjoy the sleekness of the iPhone 5 during use. My case arrived "stiff" ,as expected, but has broken in very nicely. Well done Dave and team...another great addition to my Saddleback Leather collection.
Needed 2 colors!
I bought this in Tobacco and Chestnut because I like to switch them out from time to time. The tobacco is definitely softer and more pliable, almost suede like compared to the shiny smooth finish on the Chestnut. I softened them over a few days to make them easier to work with. Great stuff.
Beautifully made
This is a beautifully made case for an iPhone 5. What a great smell, like a new pair of quality shoes! I got the Dark Coffee Brown.
When you get it, it's flat and you have to force the iPhone 5 into the case. After I pushed it in, I flexed the bottom and edges for a while and the case loosened up. After a day of working with it, the phone slides in and out easily, yet the fit is still snug enough that your iPhone won't fall out by accident. Highly recommended!
