Check out this video of the restoration process, and breathe easy knowing that it takes a lot more than a direct hit from a tornado to break a Saddleback bag.

Saddleback Leather products are designed and built to last a lifetime, but the warranty does not cover misuse or abuse, as illustrated by the papyrus-heavy images below

Like if you take it shark diving in saltwater and a rivet corrodes

Or if an elephant stomps on it and creases the leather

Or if a crocodile bites it (Watch Here) and tears off a D-ring

If it’s our fault that it broke because of poor craftsmanship or defective materials, then we’ll fix it or replace it for free for 100 years under our Warranty. Even rocks wear away, eventually.

So if the thread wears thin in a much-rubbed spot or the leather where your steel discus wore through after ten years, get ahold of us and we’ll try to fix it for you or help you as much as possible. We want to make sure you’re happy, but normal wear and tear, or things like leaving it out in a field for a year in the sun is not covered by the Warranty (or even the warrantee).

If you own one of our few designs made of vegetable-tanned leather then be sure to protect it from raindrops with some sort of water protectant and condition it at least once a year. Veg tanned leather gets water spots on it pretty easily. Our normal chrome-tanned leather thrives on neglect but should be conditioned every 12 to 18 months. Just remember that before you die, get all your Saddleback stuff sorted out in your will, and if there’s ever an issue, just have one of your descendants contact me or one of my descendants and we’ll get you sorted out.

Your 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
We’re all pretty used to buying stuff online these days, but it can still be tough for things like bags and backpacks. You can’t hold it or touch it or try it on. So, if you get it and it’s too big or too small or too heavy or uncomfortable, then contact us within 30 days and we'll take it back, no questions asked. All we ask is that you cover shipping to get it back to us. What a lot of people used to do is they would buy a briefcase in all four colors, pick the one they wanted and send the rest back on our dime. We've had some people return over 3 dozen bags like that. And we aren’t a super huge company, so it was really tough for us to absorb that kind of cost. We're really nice people, but this isn't a hobby. Hopefully, you’ll understand.

Does the Warranty Cover This? Can I return it?

If you answer NO to any of the following:
Did you get what we said you would get? Was the color what you thought it would look like? Was the look fine? Was the weight acceptable? Was the functionality there? Then contact us within 30 days, and we'll get you all set for in-store credit, an exchange, or a full refund, on us. Our Warranty covers this.

If you answer YES to any of the following:
Did an accident happen to it? Does it have sticky goo all over it? Did a toddler draw on it with a pen? Did a male cat mark it as his own? Did a motorcycle drag it for miles? (seriously, we’ve gotten these questions) Our Warranty doesn't cover this. Start working on your story, because people will be asking you about it for the rest of your life.

If you answer YES to any of the following:
Did you irreversibly modify it? Burn your name into it? Cut off part of it? Remove something from it or modify it in some way so that we couldn’t sell it again for full price? Our Warranty doesn't cover this one. eBay could be your best option.

If you answer YES to any of the following:
Is it still functioning right? Is the leather is aging nicely with wrinkles, sagging and marks? Are the buckles still buckling? Are the flap still flapping? Is the handle still handling the load just fine and the rivets are still riveted? Are you just bored of it? You’re tired of waiting for it to break in? You want to try something new? Our Warranty doesn't cover this. Try trading it for something to someone or give it away to someone who has been admiring it for a long time. It’s a beautiful thing to receive an unexpected gift that we didn’t deserve or earn. It's called grace.

If Saddleback Leather were your company
If this were your company and someone wanted to exchange a belt under warranty because they gained too much weight and it wouldn’t fit anymore, would you give them a full refund or a brand new belt for free? It’s been asked. What about if someone got a bigger laptop and it wouldn’t fit into their good old bag and they want to exchange the old for a new one for free? Would you take the loss? It’s been asked.

A loser relative of mine told me he was going to “borrow” an air mattress from a store for his weekend guests. I’m not sure if he understood that by doing that, he took at least $50 - $100 out of the bank account of the store and manufacturer because of the cost of receiving, repackaging, shipping back to the manufacturer, storage and then selling it used at a big discount. Legally, I believe that’s called fraud.

If you have a question or concern about your leather or canvas, we want to know so we can make it better. We don’t consider it complaining, it’s helping. We don’t get it right all the time and so we want to hear about it to make it better for everybody else. Let us know here.

Love 41 Warranty

We’re proud to offer designs from our sister company (or wife company...my wife Suzette runs it), Love 41, here on the Saddleback Leather website. These items are marked as such in the product description and do not fall under Saddleback’s 100 Year Warranty. That doesn’t mean they won’t last just as long, however. Suzette and Love 41 take pride in the outstanding durability and quality of their designs. All Love 41 products are fully warranted against all defects in materials and workmanship for 41 years, except leather jewelry or on any magnetic closures or sippers. If you should have a problem, send it back to us and we’ll repair or replace it for free.
