Simple, amazing, powerful, indispensable and cheap! (for what it is, not cheaply made, faaaaaaaarrrr from that) I I have 6 of these and when i got them i turned them inside out and then back to outside in and that made the leather soft and made them easily expandable to fit more stuff int hem.
Purchased the cable bag in Coffee Brown to go with the Mountainbag Small Canvas bag & I love it. I was very happy to open the cable bag, it's huge! Well not huge but much bigger than I expected. It fits perfectly in the small canvas bag although a bit snug as the bag is only a few days old. It currently holds change, eye drops, meds, phone charger, sunglasses, Chapstick & has A LOT more room. I will definitely be purchasing these as family Christmas gifts; it's perfect to include as a gift to hold gift cards, small presents or stocking stuffers. I will also be buying me and my husband several more of these for traveling and for pet stuff, meds, and other small items we want to keep separate in the vehicles. I loves this bag & will definitely use it for many purposes. I'm pretty much making stuff up now as I roam about the casita just to order more to have extras holding & keeping organized some very important items about the house. You'll definitely use this bag (a lot). The cable that wraps around it is a cool way to keep it tied up.
I got one of these bags a couple years ago in tobacco, I couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of that cable bag. I wish I could say the same about the black cable bag I ordered and received recently. The leather of the bag itself is lower quality and almost feels like plastic. The leather strip/cord wrap is much rougher than my previous cable bag, less supple, and poorly cut (uneven).
I will be returning it.
i have purchased 5 large bags, a gun case and many smaller items from this company including most recently the tobacco cable bag. i love the bag but the tie cord was almost entirely frayed. i did not recognize it until it broke the first time i used it. clearly this was a QC issue. i took a picture and sent it through customer service asking for a new replacement tie strap. after 2 days, no response whatsoever. nice product, questionable QC, terrible, terrible customer service. so sad, so frustrating.
I use one of mine to carry a Glock 43. Perfect fit for this compact. Holds it and an extra loaded mag with still room for a zip lock bag for a few extra rounds. Good buy.
Well worth the money. Love these cable bags. Fit great in my backpacks. Little by little, I will have 20 of these bags. They help me organize so many things. Not just for cables. Love that the bags can stretch. Highly recommend!!!!
I own a lot of SBL products and this one has gotten the most use because I use it in whatever SBL bag I carry. I carry a bunch of cables and misc stuff. It holds it all.
The Cable bag fills my needs perfectly for a pipe travel kit. Top quality and it holds 2 small bent pipes my zippo and tools along with a Saddleback coin purse for my tobacco.
Yep, I said knitting.
I use the dark coffee brown Cable Bag, that my husband gave me for Christmas last year, to hold all my little knitting accessories. It's the perfect size to slip into whatever project bag I have with me and I look so stylish whipping out such a gorgeous piece of gear at knit night. I'm saving up to get a Large Leather Tote for an upgraded knitting project bag! Better yet, I think I'll start dropping hints to my husband for Christmas this year - it's only fair since he's the one who got me booked on SBL with the Leather Clutch and Cable Bag last year.
Thanks for making great products, with an amazing story and even better customer service.
Purchased two Cable Bags, July 2014 for a 3 month, work-trip to Alaska. One (Carbon) was intended to house my Fuji X100S (it fits perfectly along with a small lens and 3 spare batteries). The other (Tobacco) for knick-knack travel supplies. The bags were bigger than I anticipated and have worked remarkably well.
I'm not gentle with my Saddleback products, particularly while traveling, I need bags//products that can take a beating, while protecting my valuables. My satchel and these two cable bags have made it through flights, drops, Alaskan rainforest (to see the famed Anan bears), boat rides, numerous hikes, loads of rain, snow, mud, sun, and work, all the while keeping camera gear, personal products, an iPhone and iPad Air, dry, unharmed and me a VERY happy girl.
They make cool gifts too! I gave one to a family member stuffed full of goodies!
Have been purchasing Saddleback products since 2011 and have never once been disappointed. I wish I had purchased a cable bag sooner.
Being a typical tech head I certainly can tell this is a great cable bag.
It has the perfect size to put it inside a suitcase, backpack or whatever you carry and keep your cables and chargers from making a mess in there.
Being who I am (that is, an app developer for mobile devices) I carry a lot of gadgets around under the excuse it's part of my job. This bag is perfect for the countless usb cables and couple chargers I carry everywhere.
The leather is wonderful. So flexible yet strong it feels almost alive. You can certainly tell this is real leather from a real cow that used to eat real grass... you get the idea.
All in all, it's an excellent bag.
I ride a vintage motorcycle, and after one too many breakdowns without my tools handy... I decided to put together a dedicated tool kit. After about a month of using a home-made denim tool roll, it started to wear through and my wrenches were always staring at me!
Then my wife got me a Cable Bag in Tobacco for Father's Day, and my tools fit PERFECTLY inside it, along with a pen and notebook, and of course some zip-ties. I love this little bag. Indestructible doesn't even begin to describe it. I will definitely buy another when I need one (which could be any time, really...)!
I purchased three of the chestnut cable bags to go into my medium chestnut slim briefase. I am returning one of them because they are large enough that I simply don't need three, two will do it.
These bags are soft, large and flexible. You can really STUFF anything you want to carry into it. I am using mine to carry computer adaptors, cords, power supplies, batteries, etc. They are easy to secure, fit great in my briefcase, look great and are at a great price!! Love these cable bags!!
I work offshore for the petroleum industry as a consultant nannopaleontologist. I wanted a small bag to store my wallet, keys, and other small personal items while I'm on a rig or drillship. This bag serves that function perfectly and looks great too. Reading through some of the other reviews here I can imagine this also being a great little ammo bag...... now I'm thinking I need another one.
I won this bag through a SBL contest. It was one of those things I thought fell into the "Nice to have, but not a necessity" category. But since it was free to me, I took it on a month's worth of weekend travel to Texas, New York, Tennessee, and Georgia. Threw it in my carry on bag and boarded the planes-Having all my cables for my phone, ipad, blue tooth, etc in one pouch made flights so much simpler. I have come to love this so much for traveling, I am ordering another one when they are back in stock for my cigar products, as many have suggested here. It is built tough and fits perfectly inside your travel bag or backpack. Highly recommende!
Fits 500 rounds of .22lr perfectly and handsomely.
The usual SB quality.
Great bag, no complaints.
I use this handy bag for holding my day to day diabetic supplies. Doesn't look or feel all medical. I can bring it to work in my brief case and tuck it in my carry on luggage for travel. Needing to carry needles and lancets is a drag, might as well enjoy the bag you carry them in.
Great no-nonsense bag. It perfectly holds my (quite large) laptop power supply, phone wall/usb charger, phone car charger and a short piece of ethernet cable. I could think of a thousand uses for this thing, but it DOES work great for what it was made for - cables.
Also, if you own another bag or briefcase, this cable bag really helps cleaning up the "bird's nest" of wires and stuff that ensues inside the bag. I'm probably going to buy at least a couple more of these because they are really that useful. Thanks!
I have a couple of these bags. I carry a cigar or two in a wooden cigar tube, along with my matches and cutter, rolled and tied up in the bag, stuck into my sport jacket pocket. This is more of an accessory, but it's rustic yet classy, and I dig it.
I teach at the one of the largest medical schools in the country and enjoy reaching for my smoking bag, unrolling it and casually cutting & lighting a rich and well aged cigar in front of residents and medical students. They are often aghast at a professor of medicine who smokes cigars! It starts conversations about the wisdom of moderation....and the health benefits of actually enjoying life with prudence and good taste. I admit that the whole thing is a bit vain and professorial, but I grew up in the 60's and 70's, and forgive myself this mild anti-establishment indulgence. SBL items are prudent choices, and made in good taste. Watch it though - they can be addictive...
I have been on a quest for something classier than the purple velvet bag from a certain blended Canadian whiskey for my pipes, tobacco, zippo and other accessories needed for pipe smoking on the go. Thanks to George's comments below.... I knew I had to try this out. It arrived today in record time after ordering just 2-3 days ago. The cable bag is PERFECT for the pipe smoker... it is currently holding two good sized pipes, two tobacco pouches, a zippo, pipe tool and two boxes of matches. And.... there is still room! This bag is way better looking in person that the pics here show. You need this bag... I bet you could find a hundred uses for it.
I used this for cables at first, but I didn't think it was a good use for such a tough bag. So, I put a bunch of my often used, small tools in it (screwdriver with different attachments, tape measure, pliers, allen wrenches, etc.) and I use it around and outside the house for small projects. It's great! I don't always have to lug around the toolbox when I only need a few tools, and it works perfectly because it's so durable.
Though this is described as a cable bag, I purchased this with another use in mind. I am a pipe smoker and this pack is perfect to carry 1 or 2 medium-sized pipes, plenty of tobacco, a few packs of matches, and all other paraphernalia that one might need.
Goes without saying, but it makes a great conversation piece, too. I am about to order a second one right now perhaps, even for cables.
I just received this on a Dave's Deal, and of course I can't find a flaw on it. This is in DCB to match my large classic briefcase. I've loaded up with iPad and iPhone chargers, some extra batteries, a wireless mouse and a few thumb drives and there's plenty of room to spare. The bag is made of just four pieces of leather, and the cord to tie it,shut looks like it'll last at least as long as the bag. Now, it's just a matter of using the hell out of it and watching the character develop.
I bought the Cable Bag for two things; 1) To carry laptop cable and accessories in my Messenger Bag, and 2) To carry and protect my Bible when I need a case.
My Bible is a Holman large print Compact Bible. The length and thickness of the bag is perfect, it is about an inch too wide. But I just wrap up the bag and it works fine.
This is the first unlined Saddleback product I've bought and I was truly surprised at how thick it is. Seriously. I finally understand what Dave means by 'like boot leather but thicker.' And the leather strap for closing it, although not covered on the century warranty appears to be double thick/glued leather like what the case is made from. I don't think I'll ever, ever wear it out.
