I wanted something small to hold a couple bank & business cards, ID & some cash. I'm not sure why Daves items are so beautiful, but even this very small sleeve wallet feels special & it is. It's exactly what I wanted & its $40.00. Just get it, you'll use it for something. I've yet to misplace it for even a few seconds, I can't say that about my phone, keys or much larger wallets or purse. Maybe it's magic, get it for that reason alone. Plus it's $40.00! I'm aware it was recently less expensive, but it's definitely worth $40. Go for it.
A birthday gift from my wife, I asked for this specifically intending to use it as a business card holder. I stretched it out by slowly adding cards to it and applied 2-3 drinks of leather milk - all within a 24 hour period. I can now easily fit 30 thick business cards and carry them in style in my favorite variety of Saddleback Leather - Tobacco Brown!
I bought the tobacco sleeve wallet several years ago in a private sale not really expecting it to last. I have Dave's Travel Case so I know his quality workmanship. I also know I hard use my wallets. After several years of hard use, not one stitch has come undone OR has come loose. The leather stretched only slightly and I know this little wallet will outlive me. Awesome durability.
This is my second Sleeve Wallet purchase, in daring midnight black. The former is holding a flip phone, (I kick it old school) and needed a matching, rakish piece. Combined, the vibe is sophisticated, leathery, and a bit naughty...like a Bangkok dominatrix.
Purchased this sleeve wallet to hold a flip phone. It wasn't designed for this purpose, and was a very tight fit. After days of stretching, massaging and kneading the leather like Kobe beef, it slid in. It's obvious the wallet will outlast the phone tenfold, then an amusing thought came to mind. The sleeve was bought to protect the phone, now I find myself protecting the sleeve. It is a pretty thing...
back pocket = no back pain. front pocket for travel and extra security. Do you really need to carry more than 10 cards these days anyway? Go minimal. mobile in front L, money clip and 3 keys (car house work) in front R, sleeve wallet in back R - done.
I like the size of the wallet. all my credit cards fit perfectly and it is small enough to carry in my front pocket. It does look a bit 'cheap' looking for a saddleback product but I know it is a quality product.
I wanted something I could put four or five cards into and forget about and this sleeve is perfect for that. The leather is nice and thick but the total package is still thinner than my other wallet, even when the other wallet is empty. Some of the other reviews worried me a little bit but I bought this anyway and I'm glad I did. Looks like it's made to outlast its owner.
I've got to give Saddleback very high marks for their service and craftsmanship, but I'm sorry to say I'm disappointed with the Tobacco leather used to make my card sleeve. Based on my buddy's older ID wallet, I was expecting nice, stiff, slick leather that would age well and take on a nice patina. Instead, this feels like it was cut from an old pair of suede tennis shoes. It's floppy, fuzzy, and unlined (rough) on the inside. I know this is a great price point, but I think just about any other sleeve would be a better buy, even at double the cost. That said, I'd gladly buy another Saddleback sleeve if it was available in the old leather. I'm happy with the company, but not this product.
I bought the Passport Wallet because it was the perfect size and carried everything I need for international travel. Then I bought the Sleeve Wallet. The Sleeve Wallet contains my Passport Card, spare credit card, and cash. I carry it in a hidden pocket in my shirt or pants in the event my Passport Wallet is lost or stolen. Money, credit, and ID equals peace of mind.
This wallet is a kind of applied art. I can't see how it could be improved. Over time, normal handling seems to add richness to the color of the dark brown leather. Whenever I take it out, I find myself kneading it absent-mindedly with my thumb. I find it quietly satisfying to carry this perfectly useful and even beautiful thing around wherever I go. The price is extremely cheap for something that will be used every single day and yet will almost certainly outlive me.
I've used this for the past three years to carry a challenge coin I received during my time in the Navy. It fits perfectly and has kept my coin in perfect condition through days upon days of daily carry. Both the coin and the sleeve wallet are now quite precious to me, as both have become more beautiful with age.
No negative things to say about it.
Since there is no way to edit my previous review, I decided to post a new, modified review. After I posted my original 1-star review I received an email from Saddleback customer service. The rep, Tiffany, was very pleasant and offered me a refund on the product. I appreciated the offer but have decided to keep the wallet and see how it works out. Tiffany assured me that it was still covered by the 100 year warranty.
I am still skeptical, but would change my review to three stars for this reason - if you absolutely know what you want and what you are buying this wallet for, I think it would be a good purchase. But if you are expecting something that "feels" like all the other Saddleback products, that is not what you will get. It still feels flimsy and that is my main gripe. Ultimately, know what you are getting before you purchase.
This is actually a three star review, but I wanted it to show up under my original review so I left the one star intact. Sorry for any confusion.
Best wallet I've had. I've had it for coming up on a year and it doesn't show any signs of weakness besides being able to fit a couple more cards. I can tell this is a high quality wallet that will last. I don't like billfolds, they're too bulky, so I knew I needed a sleeve type wallet. I carry the essentials, ID, a couple credit cards and one or two other cards and cash in the front pocket. This wallet is perfect for what I carry and is everything I was hoping and then some. When and if this wallet gives out, I will be buying another. I might buy another anyways so I have it as a back up, pretty sure I'll lose it before it dies on me. Highly recommended for anyone that prefers a slimmer wallet or even for the times you just need the essentials, concerts or traveling etc.
I received the sleeve wallet in Dark Coffee Brown for Christmas. I am beyond disappointed. It does not feel nearly as thick as my other Saddleback products, and it does not have the pigskin lining. The thinner leather and lack of lining is not noted anywhere in the product description. This feels like a disposable piece of leather, not one that lives up to Saddleback's guarantee. Do not buy this if you are expecting normal Saddleback quality.
This wallet was my first Saddleback Leather purchase and it definitely won't be my last. I've owned it for about six months now and it still feels and looks amazing. It can easily fit eight cards without being hard to pull them out. You can also place some bills inside but I tend not to because I don't really carry cash on me. Highly recommended if you want something small to hold a few cards and not much of anything else.
After a good friend made me realize my extravagant bookmark was really a money clip, I started using one too. At first, it seemed to hold everything I needed. But one day, my friend was carded at a bar for the first time and embarrassingly enough, he'd forgotten his driver's license.
So I picked up two of these for the both of us (though he won't be getting his until Christmas). After a week, I'm very happy with it! It smells great, the leather is soft, not too thick, and the unfinished look (I've got the tobacco one) is fantastic. And it really is the minimalist's forgettable friend; during this week, I've found myself suddenly checking my pockets to assure myself the wallet was actually there.
Like another reviewer said, it needs some time to break in. At first, it was only able to hold two cards comfortably. At the end of this week, it can fit 5 cards- more than my money clip was ever able to- and I can attach the money clip to the wallet, too. I use the money clip attachment to hold cash. I feel it's necessary as it isn't as convenient to pull it out of the wallet.
I highly recommend this wallet- great looks, extremely affordable, durable construction, and completely functional. Five stars, no contest.
This is the first Saddleback piece I picked up. I was looking for a slim wallet that wouldn't look terrible after six months and came across this one. The price was right, but that's the catch; as soon as it came in the mail, as soon as I caught a whiff of the leather in the envelope, I had to get the ID wallet, too. Soon I had to get the belt pouch, a belt, so on.
Mine holds an ID, two credit cards, and a transit pass. I've had more in there, but four seems like the right number to me. I always try to put the credit cards face in because the leather conforms to the numbers. Otherwise, in the year that I've had it, it's developed a nice patina. It's also become much darker. The stitching is top notch, and there's been absolutely no fraying. This is the most practical, good-looking, all around best wallet I've ever owned, hands down.
Very nice leather product. Mine measures 3.75 x 2.9 inches. I carry one credit card, one hundred dollar bill and one twenty dollar bill. Anything more than that will start to stretch this leather sleeve. It is also very cool to only carry folded bills inside, as they can't be seen from the top or bottom and have no chance of falling out of this sleeve. I personally can't see cramming twelve plastic cards into this tiny leather sleeve. Mine is perfect leather and smells wonderful. This is the best and thinest front pocket carry device for minimal travel on the market.
I bought my Tobacco sleeve wallet at a private sale online and WOW was I floored at the quality of this little thing! Yep, thick leather and strong stitching. It holds EDC only: driver's license, debit card, credit card, medical card, and if I hit an ATM, a $20 bill. Everything is easy to put into this wallet and take out of it. Can't say much more than I'm glad my seller overbought for Christmas last year! I'll be buying more of these to replace the synthetics I have scattered in other bags I own. Thanks for great quality, Dave!
Rocking this guy for a few months and already I would feel naked without it; in fact I feel naked with it! Can't beat the price. Allow some time to break in. Satisfied customer.
I have carried a money clip for several years that handled my credit cards and cash, and was quite satisfied with it. Saw this sleeve, tried it, and it is even better than the clip. I carry 6 credit cards/licence and a few bills, and this makes an even smaller indentation in my front pocket than the money clip did. The leather is a bit stiff at first, but loosens up pretty quickly. The dark coffee brown is a great color that coordinates well with either dress or casual. Well worth the $14 and more - would never go back to a conventional wallet in my back pocket! Just wish Saddleback made a belt pouch that would handle my Samsung S4 cell phone - I would buy one in a heartbeat.
This is the first Saddleback product I've purchased and I'm completely satisfied with it. It's a high quality product that closely matches the description. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it comfortably fits my front pocket. As women, I was concerned about whether the wallet would fit because the pockets in women's jeans are tiny. Lastly, this company's customer service is phenomenal. I accidentally ordered a different color and I was able to contact their customer service online in minutes to fix the order. The service rep also helped me save money on shipping with her recommendation and I got the product within the week of ordering it (by USPS)! I would definitely buy more from this company and recommend it.
My first Saddleback purchase. I love it. I've had it for months now and will just pull the cards out and play with the sleeve. I've bought three more Saddleback pieces since. Great, great stuff.
