This is just an awesome product. I have used this wallet every single day for 5 years, and it is still as solid as it was on the first day. The leather is often exposed to sharp keys in my front pocket. Although the leather has scratched a bit, it is still sturdy and looks nice.
I have 4 cards on each side, and this seems to be the optimal amount. It takes a few months for the leather to break in. Could not be happier with this wallet.
Pretty awesome; and with that big coupon code SLC sent out on Apr 5 I paid pretty close to nothing for it, which makes it stoopid awesome. Replaced a binder clip on a stack of cards/cash in my front pocket. When I first got it I took four rewards cards and put two on each side of the wallet. Then I pushed as many business cards as I could manage between them, folded the wallet, put a piece of plastic on each side to protect it, then put a giant binder clip on it. I let it sit for three days, shoving a couple more cards in some time. Three days later I can easily slip my regular credit card off the stack on one side and there's even a little room for some cash. That will probably be folded and one end slipped into the pocket with the rest just hanging out in the middle of the wallet fold. I'm partial to the tobacco color products anyway, but what I did not expect and am deliriously happy about is the extra character in the grain. It is TOTALLY RAD! I don't talk like that often, but this situation calls for it. I wanted to post some pics of my wallet in use and the coloration, but I guess this review system isn't set up for it. In case the URL gets through you can see the image I wanted to post at: tinyurl.com/SLCwall
I purchased this in chestnut to compliment my saddleback medium bifold wallet. I use this on the weekends for cash, ID, and a couple of credit cards. Great for light travel. Of course, high quality and the chestnut cloring is attractive. Very simple and diminutive. Great for front jeans pocket. Expensive for a small wallet but you pay for the quality workmanship and materials.
Ordered one in basic black. It has to be equally at home with a tuxedo, as a pair of trusted blue jeans, and is. Slick, simple, functional. Slide in a few needed cards, grab your money clip and car keys, and meet life head on. Go ahead, pull the trigger. You have a hundred years.
Have been all over the Internet looking at different styles wondering would it meet my needs or if quality would be good. I've bought several different types from real expensive designer brands to the ones you would find at Walmart I've been extremely disappointed with them I finally came across saddleback I decided to order this I absolutely love it now I'm logging in to order more for friends after they seen mine everyone wants to know where I got at I've only had mine for a couple of weeks they will make great Christmas gifts. Do yourself a favor and get one you will LOVE IT
I got the ID holder wallet and it was cool, just a little to thick for me. So I got this on and its super thin and exactly what i wanted. I have had it for about a week and i love. It is also good that is has the anti scanning lining in it so i don't have to worry about some one scanning my butt to get my credit card numbers. It is very high quality and disappears in any pocket, front or back. Like others have said since its small it forces you to keep only the essentials. I called to trade in the ID wallet and they are super helpful with returns. Great service. You can tell this is a family business that really cares about customer satisfaction. If you want a super slim wallet for life get one, then get another one for a gift for someone. Everyone at work likes my wallet so its kind of a conversation started.
I have tried just about every minimalist wallet/card case on the market. Some made from firehose, cordura fabric, and even others made from leather. I carry 3 credit/debit cards, my DL, CHL, a work ID a couple health insurance cards and a Peter Atwood Count Sporkula tool in this card wallet. The craftsmanship is beyond description. It folds together into a small, barely noticeable wallet. The fact that the leather ages beautifully is a bonus. Buy this wallet, support a great cause and let them fight over it after you're dead !
Purchased the Business/Credit Card Wallet in black last year and it's accompanied me on every adventure since. The two interior pockets are tight out of the box, but break-in after use. I organize my cards based on use: IDs on one side, credit/debt cards on the other. Recommend applying a little leather oil every 6 months. I just purchased seven wallets for my groomsmen. Pair this wallet with a titanium money clip and you have a EDC for a lifetime. I've purchased expensive competitor wallets (ie Ghurka) in the past, five times the cost of this SBL, and the quality of SDL beats the hell out of it.
I have had this wallet for about 3 years now and I still love it as much as when I bought it (maybe even slightly more now :)). It is a color that I don't think they carry anymore, which is too bad because it is awesome. The wallet is perfect if you don't really like having things in your pockets and need something that carries everything you need, but doesn't feel like it. I carry 5-6 cards in the pockets, and just keep my cash folded up between the flaps.
Like all of the other products I have, the quality is so amazing that it hasn't even shown any signs of wear in the 3 years I have had it.
I use this as a back pocket wallet and it has worked out well. The only issue is it is so compact that I have to tap my back pocket to make sure it is still there, you can't feel it really when you sit (This is a personal problem, I only bring it up incase you plan on using it in the same manor). The quality is top notch. It has worn and aged well. I usually have between 5-6 cards in it. It stretches well. The price is unbeatable.
I've been a standard bifold guy for 25 years now, but I finally got tired of the bulk. They're too big to sit comfortably on, and too bulky in a front pocket. I decided to try this wallet for two reasons: to force me to reduce the amount of stuff I keep in my wallet, and to get something smaller and lighter (and cooler for the summer).
I've had it for a few weeks and it's working out great. I realized I could toss out (or keep in the car) half the stuff I kept in my old wallet. Now I'm down to six cards and I'm not missing anything yet. I keep four cards in one side, and two in the other along with some folded up cash (up to eight bills is comfortable, ten is pretty tight). In my front pocket it's practically invisible, and I rarely notice it. In the back I can barely feel it.
The leather, as always, is beautiful. Stretches and bends just the right amount. This wallet is actually smaller than I expected, but it's just what I wanted. Also thinner--I somehow expected the leather to be as thick as my briefcase's.
I might get a larger wallet for winter when I can keep it in my coat pocket, but for summer I'm very happy with this.
I really like this wallet. I currently have 5 cards in it but could see how it could stretch to accommodate more. I only use it to hold points cards and gift cards so I'm not pulling cards out very often. I've had it for eight months, and because I don't pull cards out all the time it is still very stiff and a little hard to get them out when I do need them. For me this isn't a problem though, at least I know I won't find my cards floating around in my purse. I have the no longer available carbon color, so I won't talk about that since it won't help anyone to know about a color they cannot order. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't seem to like to stay closed. I keep it sandwiched between other things in my bag, and yet when I pull it out it pops open and won't stay shut. Maybe once it is broken in more it will stop doing this. Overall I am happy with it though. It's beautiful, and you can tell it's not going to break any time soon.
I've used this wallet for over a year now. RFID blocking feature works on a proximity entry card, which is a nice feature. The only wear and tear on the wallet is natural scuff marks and abrasions from use. Stitching and leather integrity is still as good as new. For my use, its the perfect size, easily holding ID, a few credit cards, and a few folded bills, while nearly disappearing inside a pocket, with no excess bulk. For this price, easily replaced if lost, and will probably last my whole life. Very good quality.
I purchased my Business/Credit card wallet about 8 months ago and can't express how happy I am with it. I chose the tobacco color which has 'matured' to a wonderful finish, a little darker than when I first received it. It was a little stiff at first, but, has become fully comfortable with the amount of cards within. I carry 4 credit cards on one side, with drivers license, debit, insurance and medical cards on the other. I also carry my cash bills (folded in half) quite nicely within the fold. It provides me the minimalist front pocket wallet I was going for without all the bulk. And, having received my first set of RFID credit cards, it's nice to know that the wallet provides protection from scanning them at a distance. I wish I had purchased one of these YEARS ago. And, that 100-yr warranty....pretty much says it all for the quality of this product. Thanks Saddleback!
The Tobacco seemed a bit lackluster when new, but after 2 weeks looked much better on the outside from regular use. The oil from my hands gave it character.
I wouldn't change anything about it.
I am a minimalist and the last thing I wanted was a big, bulky wallet. I bought this wallet to replace my old binder clip and rubber band system that served me well through college--felt like a working professional should have a "real" wallet. It was a great decision and I have been using this wallet for almost 2 years. It looks great and is holding up as you would expect a saddleback product to.
I have had numerous friends and colleagues comment on the minimalist design and quality craftsmanship. When I tell them how much I paid for it they are invariably impressed. I have turned at least a few people (that I know of) onto this wallet--I insist they buy a different color to avoid that awkward moment when your friends all bring out the exact same wallet as yours **avoid eye contact, look away, hope no one notices**
Everything you NEED to carry, you can do with this. Very simple, opens like a book and has 2 slots on each side for your IDs and credit cards. I keep 3-4 cards on each side for mine including my ID. The design keeps your cards nice and flat and protects them from falling out. Over time the leather stretches if you need to jam in more cards. I like to fold up a $20 bill and keep it in there as well just in case.
If you carry a lot of case, this is NOT the wallet for you but for those of us that use credit cards nearly exclusively for purchases this wallet can't be beat. If all you need is your ID, some cards and a small amount of case then this is your wallet. It disappears in your pockets and the look, feel and smell of the leather is great.
I own it in all 4 colors and just rotate the colors every month to mix it up - though I think its best in tobacco! I LOVE this little wallet. $21 is a steal for the quality of the design and materials.
I have never been easy on my wallets and they never seem to last long enough or keep their shape. I have had this wallet for 1 year now and it looks even better now. Fits perfectly in my front pocket with jeans or a suit. Simple, perfect and impressive style.
Wanting to get this for a while, shipping was holding me back lol.
its perfect, holds a few credit cards, drivers license and some cash.
smells and looks great.
i picked the tobacco color, i know it will age well.
I've had this wallet for 3-4 years now, it looks great and it's just as good as the day I received it.
I used to go through these from
inferior company's at the rate of
one per every 10-12 months...
Thanks for a great product!!
Received the tobacco colored wallet two days ago. Very happy with it. Minimalist is definitely the word for it. I have about ten cards in it altogether, four debit/credit cards, my license, PBA card, health insurance, dental, and a couple of things I'm not sure about. I keep my bills in the middle. It's a little stiff, but that was expected and I think it will be fine in the future.
One thing I didn't notice in the pictures was a sketch stitched into the inside that appears to be Blue with a sombrero. That's a bonus for me.
I had a yellow lab named Boomer. He was 15 and a 1/2 when I too had to put him down. I was hoping he would have gone in his sleep but it didn't happen. He was the best. Now, every time I open the wallet and see that picture I'll think of him, which makes this wallet that much better!
I was looking FOR YEARS for such a minimalist wallet to carry 8 cards and a little bit of cash with me. I'm so glad I found it (and thank god, they ship worldwide!). Now that I've got it, I can't keep my hands off and love to see how it gets nicer and nicer day by day.
I think I need a new briefcase now...
It's my seven days a week front pocket wallet. I purchased the chestnut color, as well as a chestnut old bull belt to match.
My wallet was never a George Costanza wallet, but there was always too much in it. When I weeded out the stuff I never actually used, there wasn't much left.
I bought this as a business card holder only. I became tired of carrying a wallet AND this as a business card wallet when I realized that it had stretched out enough that I could carry my regular wallet contents and several of my business cards, AND still have room for cash in it.
I prefer this over the ID wallet because there's no risk of the card slots stretching out too much and having things fall out. Since it folds up, everything is secure inside. It's probably comparable to my buddy's ID wallet (which he really likes). It makes me feel better knowing nothing can come out.
It takes a little getting used to when downsizing from a traditional bifold, but I would recommend this as a replacement. I'm really glad I made the switch. I find myself very frequently patting down my pockets, though, because it's so small and I can't tell it's there.
I had to laugh when I read the review by Christopher Hersey below when he called this wallet a "gateway drug". That description is so accurate. I bought this wallet last September in DCB...and just bought the Front Pocket Briefcase in DCB...and already planning to purchase the small Leather Tote as a gift for my wife's birthday in a few months. Hopefully she doesn't read this review.
As for this wallet, the quality is amazing. Think of it as a highly portable tank or vault for your credit cards. It is just starting to get "broken in" after nearly 6 months of use. It is the only wallet I carry since I don't like to carry cash (in a wallet). It would be an outstanding value at twice the price.
