Love this bag

by

Love, love, LOVE this bag! I bought this to wear as a crossbody everyday bag to hold the essentials. Gorgeous material, feels amazing - hard to describe, but the material feels thick and moveable (not too stiff) and cozy. I love the way it looks, too. I was a bit nervous ordering this because there were no reviews, but I’m glad I did because I love everything about it. It’s a simple design and easy to use for EDC. I’ve been sliding my giant iPhone+ in the leather backing (not sure if it’s meant to be used as a pocket, but it works for me).

Fold-over Canvas Gear Bag

I prefer the extra room of this bag over my Mountainback small gear bag. I can fit a couple of Rhodia A5 Medium 6” x 8¼" notepads, and my fountain pens can be stored in vertical position without worry of ink leakage. The external dimensions are larger than the small gear bag, without going into Indiana’s (the bag, not the state) territory and price range.

I like the leather reinforcements. However, I wonder why there is no leather tab on this strap, like the one that my small canvas bag has? That little piece of leather is a nice piece of swag, a finishing touch gone missing in this fold-over model. I transfered that strap to this bag. It looks much better!

One extra neat feature is the old bull panel riveted on the back. When one positions the bag on one’s hip with the bull panel facing upwards, Voilá! The bag is now a mobile writing desk, especially while waiting at the queues.

Story

My dad used to tell me that a grown man should always carry a pen. He also used to carry one of those 1” thick Swiss Army knives in his back pocket, next to his wallet. It seemed like an uncomfortable arrangement. Over the years I’ve taken up his habit of carrying a pen and a good pocket knife. I’ve also made a few additions. A small, sturdy fixed blade knife, a flashlight, bandana, and a few other things. This bag is designed to keep all those daily useful things organised and close at hand.
