I've had a similar style wallet for some time from a different company. Recently it began falling apart and I was happily pointed towards SBL. This wallet is of far superior construction and leather compared to what I had last time - and actually cheaper (paid $50 for last one).
Only initial downside is that the leather is rather stiff and requires some working to get cards to fit well. I've been using for a few weeks since Xmas and it is beginning to loosen up already.
Overall great product, looking to expand my collection with a bag and hopefully, some day, some moccasins if Dave decides to make them!
Great slim wallet.
This is the best wallet that I have ever owned.
Holds all my cards and cash.
Thanks, Saddleback Leather!
Perfect for use if you don't want to bulk of a full wallet. However, you will not be able to keep a lot of cash in it unless you fold it up small.
After a year of use, the leather has become so buttery soft. This is the perfect minimalist wallet.
Ive been searching for the perfect wallet my entire wallet carrying career and I've finally found it with Saddlebacks id wallet. I hate bulk with a passion and have tried pretty much every "front pocket" wallet known to man. You name it, any brand, any cost....i've used it.
Im a month in now with this tobacco brown wallet and it just gets better and better. The leather is molding beautifully around my cards, and the color is gorgeous. No complaints, its perfect.
I received this as a gift and love it so far. I haven't had it long enough to comment on the durability, but it does appear to be made incredibly well. Great product at a great price.
Recived this wallet about a couple of days ago. I have been thinking of getting this wallet and I finally pulled the trigger. So far, there are no regrets, the leather is very tough and seems durable. I like to keep my EDC (every day carry) as minimal and this ID wallet does that while carrying everything I need and eliminating unnecessary bulk. I am very pleased with the workmanship and am excited to see how it ages and develops a nice patina. Great product and I would reccommend this and this company, especially with a 100yr warranty, to my family and friends. I cant stop smelling the leather.
P.S. A tip on making it easier to put/remove cash inside when you first get it, isi to put the cash first(folded in half) before you put in your cards. Also, take your bills and fold it twice and leave it there for a few days.
I had been looking for the perfect thin / slim wallet for years. I had bought several that were okay but they always fell apart and were made of low grade materials and the stitching was bad. After seeing a review online of the Saddleback Leather Wallet and pictures posted by owners after years of use and the wallet actually looked better old then they did new, I knew I had to get one! The quality is amazing! The leather is some of the best I have even seen used in a wallet and the stitching is perfect! After breaking it in over a few weeks you start to forget you even have it in your pocket, it's that comfortable. If you are on the fence about purchasing this wallet go for it you wont be disappointed!
I don't like a big wallet. I have had ID wallets, money clip wallets, and folding wallets. Nothing has come close to this for initial quality. I was worried it might not hold enough. It's got plenty of room for at least 6 cards, drivers license, and at least 5-7 folded bills. Everything I need and incredibly well constructed. We will see how long it lasts, but I'm sure it won't disappoint.
I have been a loyal customer to Moneyclamp for over 10 years. In that time, I have gone thru 3 wallets. I wrote them asking about a thinner version of their wallet, but something sturdy that will last. I didn't hear from them and stumbled upon Saddleback. I bought this wallet and when I opened the package, it was exactly what I was looking for. Thick enough so it will withstand several years of wear. Not too many slots for credit cards and a plastic less slot for your ID. I'm a SFC In the US Army, and I have to pull my ID several times a day, and it is just what I need; also I only have 2 credit cards. This is a slam dunk if you ask me.
This was exactly what I was looking for. A slim wallet that could carry my check card, drivers license and some cash. I used to wear my old wallets in the back right pocket, but this one stays in the front left with my phone. I like the hidden pocket for my insurance card.
I've had this wallet now for a couple of years or so. All I ever want to carry around is my license, a couple insurance & credit cards, & occasionally a few dollar bills. That's all that will fit in this thing. From handling it & taking it in & out of my pocket, the leather has developed a great sheen. Any scuffs now just rub right out, although they do add character to the wallet too. I have great confidence that this wallet will easily outlast me & was a fantastic investment.
After purchasing the medium bifold wallet and being somewhat disappointed with it. I decided to try the I.D. wallet. It's perfectly comfortable in my front pocket, and fits a good amount of daily carry items - driver's license, car and medical insurance cards, passport card, some cash, and about five or six credit cards. No room for receipts, gift cards with $0.50 left on them, or busniess cards from that guy you met on the train the other day. This wallet disciplines you to carry only the necessities.
I've had this wallet for about a year now, and I would (and do) highly recommend it for just about anyone. I now swear by a front-pocket wallet for comfort and convenience.
It's big enough to carry 8-10 cards (credit, license, insurance, etc.) with ease, and hold around 15 bills in the middle without being overcrowded.
It's not for George Costanza, so don't count on carrying hard candy or sugar packets, but it will carry all that you really need.
I love this wallet. It is great to have something this small and good-looking to hold me to a reasonable level of stuff in my pocket. I don't miss all the filler that I used to carry at all. I'd say I would buy another, but this one looks like it will last forever.
This is an outstanding leather wallet! I have owned the same wallet for a few years now and it started to frail and crack. turns out it was made from some cheap stuff. right out of the packaging I could tell that this is really nice leather, and the stitching is superb. I know this will last me a very long time! Customer service was outstanding, seriously; you will regret not getting this amazing mark of craftsmanship.
My father gave me a leather wallet 15 years ago. While it still worked, it didn't fit well in slimmer pockets and I worried over its scuffs. I was hinting at getting an ID wallet, and sister gave me one of these for my birthday.
Now I must admit, until now I had written Saddleback Leather off. While they looked rugged, they seemed to be geared towards people who always wear jeans to work, work that was far sweatier than mine. To my great shame now, I thought that I needed Coach and Louis Vuitton. But in hindsight, this thing is perfect. In my back pocket, I almost forget it exists. Furthermore, I can flash my ID right quick, and keep my important insurance information behind it.
People have marveled at its workmanship when I pull it out. Even the people with Coach wallets have asked to feel the smooth darkened leather, and how invincible the thing feels.
I was doing myself a disavor by denying myself full leather goods. Shouldn't I also use stuff that lasts forever??? Sorry dad, but sis's wallet is the one I use for nights on the town!
I really have nothing to add to the reviews about the wallet. So I will say something about the people behind the wallet.
The service I received was excellent. They were very helpful, friendly, and quickly answered any question I had. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
And the wallet is excellent.
Why did I ever carry a bigger wallet? I've only had it a day, but I'm in love with this thing. It's perfectly sized to fit all the basics you really need. I have 8 cards, a few bills, and a couple notes tucked away in this wallet. It is also extremely well constructed. To echo another review, the smell of the treated leather is awesome. I had to pass it around my office. Everyone loved it.
A note about the color: I purchased the "Tobacco Brown" and it does not match the color of the picture on this site. Mine is a littler darker. I actually prefer the darker color of the one I received, though.
First off, the quality is exactly what you would expect from SBL. The stitching is flawless and the leather is constantly developing a new look every time I put it in my pocket or scratch it against my keys when getting it out. I bought the tobacco color id wallet and it gets more beautiful every day. I have come to the conclusion that this is one of Dave's most brilliantly designed works. It is a minimalist wallet for someone who isn't a minimalist. This beast stays very small yet will hold my eleven cards, cash, and business cards. The id wallet brilliantly segregates your cards so you never have to sort through a stack of cards to find what you need like you have to do with many other minimalists wallets on the market. I used to use rather large bulky wallets before I switched to SBL and I was nearly positive that I was going to have to carry less but I never did! This wallet can handle whatever you throw at it! It truly is a wallet that will stand the test of time. For me and many others, SBL is the company by which all other leather companies are compared and in my humble opinion none come close.
I'm going on 1.5 years with my front pocket wallet and it has broken in nicely. It is nicer than the day I opened it. I can't rate this product highly enough. I would buy it again but I won't be in the market for the forseeable future...
