LOVE IT, tons of comments on it does not do it justice, it has saved me many times when I have dropped the thing, A little sad it will FAR outlast the technology inside it, thus rendering my 100 year warranty useless :-)

"... Saddleback Leather no longer discriminates against any cow on the basis of age, appearance, lactose intolerance... if the beast has a natural marking or brand, or whether or not they worship the Divine Bovine."
Truth is, sometimes beauty is only skin deep... like with cows. Their poetry is notoriously terrible, but man, their hides are nature's art. We don't believe that flawlessness equals beauty. Beauty is when we're able to see something as it really is.
This is true with humans too. There are lots of quality people who are really beautiful not in spite of, but because of the marks life has given them.
We took both of our iPads driving and flying on a trip through Scotland, Kenya, Rwanda, Australia, and New Zealand over a period of two months, and our iPads kept
I bought this in chestnut off Dave's Deals, 25% discount. There are some wrinkles in the leather, but, to be honest, I think it adds to the rustic appearance. It's a Valentine's Day gift for my wife, and I think she'll like it.
It smells amazing. The physical protection is perfect. The case can be situated to make the ipad stand on its own for hands-free viewing. The pig skin lining keeps it rigid. Good Lord, you should smell this thing.
No pockets. Her old, cheap case had pockets on the interior for paper, pens, etc. This is a straight ipad case. Nothing else. I will say this: Dave never said there would be pockets, so I don't hold it against him. Regardless, it is something to consider before you make the purchase.
EXTREMELY hard to fit the ipad into the case. Once it's in, it's even harder to get out. HOWEVER, this might also be a positive, because the leather tends to stretch with use. Since the leather is extra extra extra tight, it might not be an issue.
That's just it; the case is beautiful. The stitching is gorgeous. The straps are a work of art. The dark chestnut leather compliments the silver ipad. I'm always shocked with Saddleback's quality. If I could go back in time, I would make this purchase again. Beautiful.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
I already talked about the pockets. I'm not sure why, but the pigskin in chestnut is different from the pigskin in tobacco. I bought a medium front pocket backpack in tobacco a couple months ago (which, by the way, I am extremely proud of), and the pigskin lining is very supple and soft to the touch. In chestnut, it is much more rigid. It almost has a plastic feel, This is neither a pro nor a con. It is merely something to consider.
I love my ipad case and have received lots of compliments! I am eagerly awaiting the release of the ipad air case so that I can feel "safe" using my new ipad! I really hope it will be released before Christmas!! Thanks again for an amazing product! Keep up the good work!
Hands down, THE best iPad case EVER !!!
The leather is aging awesomely.....
Wating patiently for the iPad Air case !
I have bought a few Ipad cases....all junk. I am so thrilled with this wonderful leather case and very proud when I pull it out on the airplane (I need a referral fee) because many people ask me about it. You will love the sturdiness and excellent craftsmanship...believe me!
My son bought mr the tobacco colored cover. I've had it for 3+ years, and I love it! It was the second best gift ever, second to my iPad which my husband surprised me with! I've had many many complements on the cover too. BTW, I carry my iPad in my purse a lot and know it is protected by the cover!!! Love Love Love it!
I have to re-post and take back what I had posted earlier about the new ipad case. I returned one that I thought just did not live up to what I was used to from SB. I had become an old tobacco snob. I was so taken with the old look and did not even want to look or listen to the thought of "the change!" Anyway, the great customer care (as always) sent me a new one and I have to say that I love it! I apologize for posting the "poo" color. Maybe I got a bad one because I love this one. Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm back and thanks for the great customer service. Onward! Oh, please take off my old post. Ughhh!
I'll admit, I almost returned it. I actually called and got an RA number. After two iPads and several years of using lightweight, low profile cases I wasn't sure I could get accustomed to the larger size of this case. I thought I might miss the on/off feature, blah blah blah. I kept trying to talk myself out of the Saddleback but every time I went to box it back up for the return I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Why? The quality, the look, the intangible sexiness of dark coffee brown... The case is just awesome. After deliberating a few days I realized I was being an idiot and decided to keep the case. After a week of meetings and travel I am addicted. The case has softened up and already started to develop its own character. I really appreciate the solid construction and the security of the straps and don't notice the extra weight. No, I don't miss the on/off magnet of my previous cases, turned out to be a total non-issue for me. It's nice not worry about my ipad when I travel anymore, or fear the worst when my 19month old or his 4 year old brother get their paws on it. I love my ipad and this case takes it to a whole new level. Occasionally I have to re-center the ipad a bit, but I can live with that. You get what you pay for.
For the record, I've been through four supposedly "premium" cases, 2 of them in the last 6 months. None of them lasted and only one of them was dropped. In fact, the only case I dropped survived just fine, unfortunately it did not protect my first ipad from a shattered screen. The case was ok, the ipad was toast.
I purchased a Bible cover at the same time and it is equally nice. Next up, a classic briefcase ant medium notepad holder... Great tribute to your dog Blue, Dave. I have a similar character who has been all over the country with me. His head is on my lap as I type this.
Advertises itself. People are always asking me about it.
My iPad is my life. I just throw it in my bike bag with my other stuff (keys, books, pens, iPhone) and know I don't have to worry about it.
Handsome, protective and well traveled. Just like me!
I'm not one who writes reviews. I've always figured people are capable of making their own decisions. This is my third item from Saddleback, and it is awesome. Everything they make is awesome. I wish I could afford one of everything. That is all.
I am extremely picky with my cases... That being said. I rarely give a case 100% feedback. I own a 64GB fully loaded iPad 3 (an expensive investment) I wanted a case that I could feel safe having my iPad in and be able to take it anywhere in any weather or situation without being worried. I have camped, gone on survival expeditions, everyday use, climbed, and hunted with my iPad with its Saddleback Leather case. I have dropped this iPad 5+times from 6feet or more, and from a moving car onto concrete in my driveway. No scratches, dings, cracks, glitches, anything on either the case or the iPad. The design of the case has limitless features, from using it in High School class to using the straps to hang my iPad on top of my tent to watch a movie with my friends in a backpacking adventure, wow. It's been 2 years and I have left the case on it since the day I bought it. I pulled the iPad out and it's in mint condition. Well done Dave! Your quality cases are amazing. I just bought one for my MacBook Pro. Saddleback is worth the money, protecting your investment with a case that looks better with age everyday. I'm hoping to get a messenger bag to put both my MacBook Pro and my iPad in when I go off to college. Keep it up Saddleback!
I have no problems at all with this case. It's beautiful and gets many compliments. The craftsmanship is second to none, the same as on my two briefcases. My problem is with the iPad itself. Updating to iOS 7.0.2 and now it won't stay online at all. Worked flawlessly before the upgrade. Apple's forums are full of complaints, but Apple will not even acknowledge the issue. Garbage tablet, wonderful case.
This was my First Saddelback purchase that would lead to many, many more. The quality of craftsmanship is unmatched, as well as the quality of the raw materials (materials definitely help the man). I've had this product for about 15 months now, and it is just now starting to finally soften up and break in. If you don't use the leather milk on a regular basis, you're missing out. It makes all the Saddleback products really pop and look magnificent. Thanks Dave!!!
This case is just what I needed for my iPad. I had a thick case before that didn't stand up to a short drop, but this case is rugged and certainly will stand up to use. The color and the leather smell is great. Now I just need to get one for my wife.
This case fit the iPad III just as advertised. The leather straps close up very securely. You don't ever miss the edge magnets. Old school closures have been around a long time because they work! Although I have never chucked my Saddleback protected iPad across the room, as Dave does in his video, I am quite sure it will survive if accidentally dropped.
I purchased my Saddleback iPad Case in 2010 for my iPad 2. I've loved it ever since. Recently, I purchased a new iPad w/ Retina Display (or iPad 4). Case still fits like a charm! I'd be very reluctant to get an iPad in any other size as I love the case so much. Excellent stuff.
I bought this case because I'm a true road warrior, logging well over 100,000 air miles every year. A lot of the iPad cases I've seen in my travels don't look like they would hold up or provide the protection I need. I've received a number of compliments on this case, and like all Saddleback products, it just keeps looking better as it gains character. It's also the coolest looking iPad case in the room, no matter where I go. If you want real protection from the hazards of real world travel, get one of these.
I got it 6 months ago. I have no complaints. It takes a serious amount of abuse. If you want something you can toss around, then this is the case for you. It is the bee's knees!!!
My husband and I just received our leather Saddleback I Pad case today. Everything we read about it is true . The workmanship is exceptional and we were really pleased on how quickly it shipped out . We love it !!
Thank you Dave :)

With out doubt the one thing I get asked about when travelling more than ever before is this ipad 2cover its simply the best there is.
It takes all the knocks with ease and just gets better and better with age at first I was protective of it but now! well it??????s like a well worn leather jacket that I never want to take off.
If you think its going to be good then your going to be half right because in my humble opinion it will be twice as good as you hope it will be.
Yes you have to pay a little for importing it but its worth every penny and it knocks any thing you can find in the uk for a six.
I am eager to get the ipad mini case and cant wait for it to get here.
Thank you to all the folk who make these products your amazing.
Since moving my iPad into its new leather address, my piece of 21st century technology has now acquired a more tactile, friendly, and overall, a whole new personality!
The only negative thing that I noticed on opening the iPad case was that the bottom of the top cover was cut slightly shorter than the top so that it doesn't line up with the base. The more I look at it, the more it's starting to irritate me. I think this would not have happened if I had the opportunity to compare more than one case side by side, say in a store where I can see and compare and decide what I am willing to live with. But when purchasing over the Internet, it's always a gamble. On the whole though, it is a great product and I would highly recommend it!
I have just received the case and indeed it needs some breaking in but it looks absolutely fabulous and of very good quality. The fit is very snug for an iPad 4th generation. It does add some bulk but that is the price to pay for quality leather and nukeproof design.
It took about 1 week to arrive in France and passed through customs without issues and without having to pay extra taxes.
For those wanting some more info about the color: I hesitated between DCB and Chestnut and went with Chestnut as it was the first in stock. I worried a bit that it would be too red but it's not. It's a very classy, warm dark brown leather. I'm very pleased with the color.
All in all I'm very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend this case to a friend.
I received my iPad 2 case from Saddleback more than a year ago now, in glorious dark coffee brown. It's quite simply, the best case I could have hoped for, and well worth the premium.
The case is frequently admired by friends, colleagues and complete strangers. Aesthetics aside, my iPad 2 has now survived numerous knocks and drops without issue. In the same period of time, two colleagues (with other cases) have shattered the screens of their iPads.
I ordered this to surprise my wife, I got her an I-Pad for Christmas and bought a $30 black cover. She loved the I-Pad, but said "The cover is Black, I am a girl". I decided to order her this, she absolutely LOVES it. The quality is Top Notch and we both love the Chestnut Color.
I will be ordering more goods, probably the Briefcase next along with a few belts.
I bought this about a year ago. Fantastic case! Much sturdier than anything else I have seen. Really takes the abuse from me, my wife, and daughter when traveling. I condition it when I think about it - it get's better with age - nice patina.
