Large bible cover

by

This is the first cover befitting the word of God

It would be nice if on the long flap side the cross strap was placed differently so that the flap could be tucked under the strap after folding the long flap around the cover

My bible is 93/4 high for a reference

Strap in wrong place.

by

I love the cover but the length was too short - I couldn't fold it under the strap. Strap needs to be closer to the end. I tried it on all my Bibles and none of them fit. The size was OK - just needed to be longer. I purchased the Large.

Like It Was Custom Made

by

I got the large book cover, for my study bible. It fits like it was a custom made cover.

I originally wanted the black, which you were out of, so I got tobacco, which probably is a better choice anyway. I think it will look better than the black as it ages.

Gives the physical book a beauty that encourages you to leave it out, and pick it up, and open it...

Worthy of the Word of God

by

This is a beautiful product (like all of Dave's work) that I used on my late mother's bible. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the flap and strap that secure the front cover don't quite come together for a secure fit. I fixed this by wrapping a rubber band around the original cover and the leather flap (the band is concealed from the outside leather cover). Eventually the rubber band will wear out so I'm looking for a more durable substitute, like a nylon strap.

Strap needs to be moved

by

I have had this cover for about three months now. I love the feel, color (tobacco), smell, feel, and fit of the cover, with one exception. The strap under which the front flap is to be tucked, is in the wrong location.

This is on my Ryrie NASB Study Bible, which measures 9-1/2" high, and a measurement from the edge of the front cover, around the spine, and to the edge of the back cover is 15-3/8". When the flap is tucked back to enclose the front cover, the leading edge of the flap only just barely touches the strap that the flap is supposed to tuck under. The strap needs to be 2 to 2-1/2" further to the left to properly fit the flap under the strap, for this or a similarly sized book. Or that the flap is at least that much longer; though moving the strap is probably the cheaper solution. As is, I think that this cover would fit a book whose measurement (as measured above) was 13-1/4 to maybe 14 inches.

Going to call Customer Service to see if they will modify mine!

strap wrong

by

the only reason for 1 star is the same complaint as all the rest the strap is in the wrong place, if I want to use it I have to pay my leather guy $30 to change the strap, the cover should have a 5 star it is nice. Maybe someone at the company will look at the reviews and do something about it

I love it!

by

I just received my medium tobacco Bible cover today. It fits my thin line large print Bible perfectly. The front flap goes under the strap with no problem. It is beautiful, and I can't wait to take it to church on Sunday!

Medium Fits Nanami Seven Seas

by

Fits Nanami seven seas notebook, I bought a small, but medium would be perfect.

The Flap "IS" long enough. Best Cover Ever!

by

I bought the Large Tobacco cover for my Ligonier Ministries: The Reformation Study Bible (ESV) (Physical Dimensions: 6.625” x 9” x 2.4”). It fits perfect. The front flap doesn't tuck into the strap but that doesn't affect anything because when you open the bible the pages lay over that portion. I haven't understood the gripe regarding the flap not being long enough. If you read your bible it won't matter because the pages lay over that flap to secure it down. It's Awesome-buy it.

The Strap is fine.

by

The strap should not be moved. It would make the front cover insecure. It must be where it is located. If you have a suggestion then suggest an additional flap closer to the edge. I personally don't believe it needs an additional strap. I love the way it's designed.

Tips to making it fit well!

by

I almost returned this, thinking it wouldn't fit. But after watching Dave's video a second time, I was determined to work with it and be patient. I worked in a good amount of Chamberlain's Leather MILK - formula No. 1, then molded it tightly around my bible, fitting it as snuggly as possible. Then I stacked the heaviest books I had on top of it and let it sit for all day and night - and what a difference! It's beautiful and already fits great. I'm so thankful I didn't return it! :)

Story

I was living in Juarez, Mexico when I had my first Bible cover made. I had found a saddle maker, Samuel, to make a few of my bags and also make some Bible covers. In order to get to his little workshop, I had to pass all the way through his parents’ long and narrow home.

I’d come in through the front door and pass through the living room where his very large and shirtless non self-conscious dad always seemed to be, laying on a bed. Then I’d pass through the kitchen and then a bedroom, often with people sleeping, and then out a side door just before the last bedroom. The narrow walkway with all the family chickens lead me on back to leather heaven. It wasn’t pretty, but it sure smelled like a million bucks.

So I laid my little Bible down, told him what I imagined and let him go to work. After a half dozen tries, I was more than pleased. The more I used it, the more it aged. The more it aged the more people commented on it. The more they commented, the more full of pride I became. How ironic was that? The cover of a book that taught about how much God hated pride was filling me with little bits of it. Was I causing others to sin too? Heck, would this cause people to covet or envy or become jealous? Would it cause someone to eventually do something even worse like steal? Murder?” Things can escalate quickly when it comes to nice leather.

But then I thought this. Whoa, was this Bible cover actually going to strengthen the Universal Church as a whole? Possibly. Owners will become stronger as they learn to fight their pride and non-owners will have to exercise their spiritual muscles to overcome. OR, they can be selfless and buy one for someone.

I’m not finished yet. You know what, it always bothers me to look down at a Bible and see it covered with bonded leather. Am I the only one seeing the glaring contradiction here? You have the greatest treasure known to man - the actual words of God - covered with the crappiest leather known to man. Odd to you?
