I've purchased a handful of Saddleback/Love41 items within the past few months. All of them have met or exceeded expectations in terms of quality, and being as good as, or better than, I had hoped from reading the description. Sadly, the luggage tag fell off my bag during its maiden voyage. I had it on a carryon, so there's no chance it was 're-homed' by a baggage handler. As other buyers have mentioned, the strap for the tag was a bit short, and I'm afraid it came loose and slipped away from me in transit. A longer strap, or a different closure, would be an improvement.
This is exactly what it should be, a simple yet classy luggage tag!
I purchased the SB luggage tag as a Christmas gift for the boyfriend who happens to be in the military. I wanted to get him something that would be small, lightweight, functional, and be able to stand up to some serious abuse going out into the field. I am incredibly pleased to say it stands up to the test. Not only is it functional, the other Marines keep trying to steal it off his gear. Stylish and rugged, it is perfect for him, on and off the field and for when his EAS comes around, along with earning me some major brownie points with the guys.
The leather itself is incredible quality and Dave does a wonderful job with his videos of explaining care, treatment, quality, and everything else one needs to know about leather and the process used in making his products, which was SUPER HELPFUL since I knew nothing walking in. Checkout was easy and fast, and I love that I didn't need to make an account to purchase anything (I don't like getting spam mail or giving out my personal information. I came back to make one because I will DEFINITELY be purchasing more from SB and because I had to rave about this luggage tag). Payment processed the next day, and shipping was fast (I purchased 3-day and it arrived in 2, so I guess thank you to the US postal service too).
One recommendation I have is when you take it out of the package to throw it around and beat it up A LOT. Be careful of the clasp, but bend and play with the strap and tag itself to start the breaking in process. The oils from your hands will bring out the scarring in the leather beautifully and will make it easier to slide your ID or whatever into the slot. EXTREMELY happy with this purchase, SB will absolutely have my business again. Thanks Dave and everyone else at SB! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone!
I ordered the luggage tag in tobacco about a year ago and have used it several times. The tag is made incredibly well and looks great. I get more compliments on the tag than I do my actual luggage. But that is probably only because I haven't purchased the SBL luggage yet.
Like all other Saddleback leather, the quality of this tag is outstanding. I put it on my briefcase but would not attach it to checked luggage as it would probably get stolen. It matches the briefcase perfectly and I figured I spent the money for the briefcase, so why put a cheapo tag on it. Anyway, happy with the tag and glad I bought it.
A very nice tag, but the strap tends to come unbuckled because the strap is too short. On a recent flight, the tag was missing when I claimed my bag at the gate - it didn't even go through the baggage handling system. It was either stolen by a baggage handler at LAX or the buckle failed again and the tag fell off the bag. A longer strap that extends another inch or two past the buckle would solve the problem.
This is the perfect luggage tag for either your Saddleback Leather or any other suitcase, bag, etc. It's SO good and SO cool that on my first trip using it, some Southwest luggage handler between New Orleans and Nashville decided he'd steal it. That was 2 weeks ago and I just noticed it. So what I'm going to do is order another one right now and SUPERGLUE it in place. Let them try it again...
I bought this tag primarily as a badge holder for my work ID. Prior to this one, I had the standard plastic sleeve that is standard issue. I wanted something that would look a little professional, a little rugged, and all around functional. This exceeds all expectations.
I am a "new blood" to SBL. I have purchased the iPhone 5 sleeve, the gadget sleeve (med) for my iPad Mini, and I also received the iPad 2-3 case as a birthday gift last year. This is continuing my ever growing collection (and by that I mean obsession) with Saddleback Leather. All of these (with the exception of the iPad 2-3 case) is in teh dark coffee brown, as it is a most elegant color, and delivers on the professional scale. Once I purchase my large round satchel toward the end of the year, this will flow seamlessly onto that delightful piece of leather.
Thank you, too, to the staff there at SBL. They went above and beyond to deliver quality customer service. I asked on lady, Liz was her name, if this would work as an ID sleeve. She didn't reply back right away, but rather went and got her driver's license and tested it out personally. Excellent.
Thank you all!

Bought two of these. I travel frequently, and the first one I put on a checked bag didn't make it to the final destination. The tag itself is very nice; it's the strap that needs to be redone. It's too short, and there should be a different way to secure it. I've been traveling for over 30 years, mostly by air, and this is the first luggage tag that didn't make it for even one trip. It may have been stolen, but the strap still isn't useful.
I've had mine for over a year now. Keeps looking better through its travels. I like the fact that it has no plastic window to fog up, scratch, and eventually crack all to pieces. I laminated one of my business cards using the wide packing tape and haven't even had to replace one of those yet. All in all, it's still a luggage tag, but it looks great with other Saddleback gear and you'll never need to get another one unless the airline loses your luggage or somebody swipes it.
