Very versatile bag

by -

This is a wonderfully versatile bag. I have the large Chestnut bag.

I was using the classic backpack daily to go back and forth to my gym at work, but it wasn't the ideal bag for the job.

The dry bag is very similar to the waterbag, only smaller. There is no video showing how to use this bag on the website, but watching the waterbag video will show you how to "stow" the strap when carrying open. It's the perfect size for an overnight bag or gym bag, and the smaller sizes could pass for a woman's purse.

There are a few differences between the dry bag and waterbag, besides the number of straps. The handle is sewn on, not riveted, and its not detachable. Since the bag is smaller, it likely won't be carrying massive amounts of weight. Second, the strap is attached with a screw type clip, instead of the quick release type. Personally I'd have ratcheted the quick release type, but its no big deal.

Third, this bag is meant to be carried open or rolled, the strap isn't long enough to do the "through the handle" closure that the waterbag does. So you can roll it and use the strap, or carry open and stow the strap.

It's about the size of a large brown paper grocery bag. It's super versatile, and in my opinion, the perfect combination of size, weight (no pigskin), and utility. It'd be a perfect carry on, overnight bag, gym bag, etc. I have about 15 different saddleback products and this is my favorite one.

Shaving kit

by -

Got mine as a shaving kit as I use older style safety razors to shave with and quality gear didn't fit well with a crappy faux leather kit bag. Great quality. Works amazing for what I'm using it for and I can see tons of other uses if I ever decided to switch it up. Rolled up is the perfect size for a shaving kit that stands out from the crowd.

I own the large DCB bag and it gets attention wherever I go. I actually had a woman stop me to smell it. What I love the most about it is it's packing flexibility. Carry it open, closed, rolled...there are several options. Quality is bulletproof and it is the best looking bag I've ever owned. It's at home in a 5 star hotel, camping and as a beach tote. The only thing I wish it had was a way to convert it to a backpack and I wish the center strap was one or two inches longer. It's a fantastic carry-on and will fit under most seats. It even fits in the overhead of a commuter jet.

Kind of a do-all bag!!!!

by -

When I first planned on ordering this bag I was torn between this bag (large carbon black) or a utility duffle. In my opinion this bag has an edge over the duffle because of it being made of one piece of leather, and being more dirt and water resistant. The only thing that the duffle has over this bag is more space. But overall if your looking for a multi purpose bag to use as luggage, gym bag, makeshift cooler, and probably more, than definitely give this bag a closer look. You might be surprised at its possible uses.

Heavy Duty

by -

Quality construction sets this bag apart, along with its ingenious design. I use this bag to carry IV fluids and other medical supplies for work, the bag gets noticed everywhere I go. Previous bags that I have used for this task over the years last about 6 months before zippers fail, or velcro wears out. I'm at about 9 months of heavy duty use with this bag and all that shows is character. The hardware is top notch, along with a carry strap that is comfortable and functional, considering I carry about 10-15 pounds of fluids in it every day. My only criticism is that I wish the closing strap was 2-3 inches longer.

Unique amongst it's peers - Easy to use - Functional

by -

I bought a large tobacco dry bag on a lark after seeing it on Dave's deals (10% off) and I thought my wife would kill me. I already have 3 other Saddleback bags & wallets you see.

But the day it got here she ended-up loving it - there is nothing else like this bag anywhere. It is very functional - the pictures don't do it justice! And it just holds so damn much and things are easy to access - just unclip the single strap and you've got full access to the interior. I have a large tobacco briefcase and a large tobacco messenger bag that were both in regular service until the dry bag arrived. I still use them but the dry bag is in daily service.

My bottomless pit "purse"

by -

I absolutely LOVE this bag! I bought this bag in the Medium Tobacco Brown last February for my birthday and I'm in love! I use this bag as a an everyday purse. I cut the four sides of the lining and just kept the bottom part for durability (it makes the bag less bulky and heavy). I have a lot of designer bags and I love that this bag costs about as much, but is much better quality. I love the thickness of the leather, the durability, and the design. Honestly, my two Saddleback bags are my favorite bags (I also have the 2012 small briefcase in Carbon Black) . I own roughly 20 or more leather designer bags/purses (I'm a woman who collects bags :). The Saddleback bags are the BEST! For Christmas, I'm buying myself another Medium Dry Bag in Carbon! Suzette, I hope you have more designs coming out for the ladies because you definitely have the market!!

saddleback addiction is real!

by -

This is my first of four products to arrive (also bought a front pocket backpack, a water bag, and a bible cover - tried to get a wallet too but my bank shut down my card for my suspicious activity :) ). This bag is from ebay though, in the old black color. I definitely like the more rustic appearance I expect on my water bag compared to this solid black bag but the quality is awesome, I'm impatient, and the black was on backorder...perfect storm for an ebay search. Anyway, incredible bag that I bought for my camera and assorted electronics on trips but primarily for tackle and a daily lunchbox...its so versatile! No need to see how it holds up, so evident already.

Love It

by -

Got the small bag in tobacco on Dave's Deal's. I just love it. My SB big leather wallet fits standing on its end. I can fit so much stuff in this bag - or very little and fold it over. I carry it to church, out to eat, doctor appts. and other short jaunts. Because there is no shoulder strap on the small bag, I don't carry it to the mall or all day outings. The leather is thick and beautiful and the discontinued tobacco color is gorgeous! Will be back for the medium on Mother's Day.

Great Bag

by -

I love this bag to bits. It is sturdy and stylish. I take it camping and shopping and it is not out of place at either time. These products are truly functional art. My only complaint is that the screw on the carabiner style connector on the long strap frequently works itself loose and comes off of the bag while in use.

Gun Range Bag

by -

This was the first Saddleback product I ever bought. I purchased the large Dry Bag in Tobacco Brown. Wow, what a beautiful bag, with gorgeous scarring. The leather is so thick and quality so heavy, it's gonna take some time to "break in" your bag. These are built for the long haul.

I have used this daily and love the versatility of this bag. I also took it the the gun range and carried two full cans of ammo and three pistols. If you know anything about ammunition, this is heavy! It was so heavy, my shoulder was hurting, but the Dry Bag stood the test with no problem. Quality is bulletproof! Ha! I get lots of comments about the look and quality of the bag. When you're manipulating the bag, the shoulder strap sounds and feels like horse tack. Seriously, that's how heavy duty it is. Lots of people think it's an antique bag. The reason they think it's an antique, is because THEY DON'T MAKE BAGS OF THIS QUALITY and character anymore. I love the large Dry Bag and will be purchasing the medium Dry Bag this year.

Finally Got it

I have got it today, it looks fantastic exactly what I had in mind. good job guys .

I'm a horse-person...

by -

I see a lot of leather...quality matters to me greatly! I prefer to buy something once & not live with regret. So, as a horse person, I was curious as to how my Dry Bag would actually be upon arrival...would it live up to the reviews, representations etc....OH YES!!!! The leather is high-quality. The hardware is located intelligently & not excessively...this bag does not look like an Edward Scissorhandy bag...the pig-skin inset is key to maintaining the form of the bag....& I love it. I bought a large carbon-coloured creation....here's the capacity: I can fit a dressage bridle, dressage girth, pashmina, phone, wallet, digital camera, hair brush, dressage pad AND my mac book pro into this bag...that means one trip from the car with this bag & my saddle is all that is needed. So, I bought another large in Tobacco...one for my brown boot days...& I justify the carbon, which covers my black boot days! This bag WILL age very nicely & truly is the perfect bag for carrying a massive amoutn of stuff in, while looking stylish. Interestingly, it does, as dave shows in the video...roll down & buckle up into a completely secure, reasonably-sized bag for functioning as a classy purse (which is what I wanted), your normal woman-stuff, such a lipstick, parfum, tictacs, books etc WILL NOT FALL OUT!...So, yes...you can buy this bag & not give a 2nd thought to leather quality. Thanks Saddleback...from a happy horsetrainer.

Completely Hooked....

by -

Like most of the other people have said, this is an exceptional bag. I carry it whenever and wherever I can. The leather feels, smells, and looks amazing. I obsessed over the website for months while waiting for the large dry bag to become available in tobacco, and when it came it was everything I expected. You WILL get stopped and asked about it.

Browsing the site now deciding which will be my second piece. Leaning towards the front pocket briefcase vs the front pocket backpack.

Although I am an atheist, I appreciate Dave's convictions and spirituality. I was delighted to hear how part of the purchase price went to supporting important good works like wells for clean water in Africa (especially since my son recently became involved with Project Thirst at his college).

Great man, great company, phenomenal product.

If you are remotely considering purchasing something, do it now. You will not regret it.

This is quality that lasts and lasts.

by

I have both sizes of dry bags. The small one I employ as my insulin and medicine case, while I travel. The large one is excellent for a week end or carry-on bag.

The materials and workmanship are very good.

Love it!

by

Yet another sweet item from THE leather experts. Was able to get this large Dry Bag at the 35% off deal and am I ever happy I did. This thing will serve as just about anything. Overnight bag, cooler, shopping bag. Whatever your hearts desire. If SBL is getting rid of this model, I'm glad I got it. Very nice and very useful! Another notch in my leather belt. Thanks SBL!

Just purchased my 4th Dry Bag!

by

Yep, number 4! After purchasing an iPad case years ago, I decided I wanted a dry bag. Waited for months for it to be available in tobacco. Use it all the time, tons of compliments on it wherever I go. About a month ago I started some early holiday shopping and bought 2 more for my business partners (can't wait to give them to the guys).

A couple of weeks ago a buddy of mine treated me to an amazing trip to Vegas. He commented on my bag a few times so when we got home I hopped back on the website and ordered one for him too - he should be getting it any day now.

After the dry bag I treated myself to a front pocket briefcase and a pouch.

Every piece is a work of art. I'm addicted. Just deciding what the next piece will be.

Keep the videos coming Dave, they are great and make me feel even better about the quality and value of your products!

Great camera bag

by

I use it as a camera bag and it works great. I've got some thin neoprene pouches for my lenses and and I can really fill it up with a lot. Not the quickest way to get to my gear but I don't have to worry about anything getting wet, or zipper getting caught stuff, or Velcro making noises...

Also, it (Medium size) perfectly holds 12 tasty beverage bottles if you're looking for a really nice cooler. :)

I took a chance and got the Carbon, I'm not usually a black leather guy but it looks amazing and I'm glad I went with it.

Have Dry Bag, Will Travel

by -

Second purchase from SBL (first was a briefcase for my husband).

Pounced on Large Dry Bag in Chestnut on Dave's Deals page when I found out the Waterbags were out of stock. Splurge purchase to attend a sales training meeting. Holds four days' worth of clothes--tightly packed--a hair straightener, cosmetics bag, and a pair of sandals.

[The bag] received a lot of double takes in the airport and as I put it in the overhead bin. Overheard "That is a cool bag!", etc. On the return trip, as I waited for the airport shuttle at 4:30 a.m., a fellow traveler commented, "I love your luggage; it's so Southwestern! May I ask the brand?" I was glad for the business cards that arrive with each shipment!

Nicely done, SBL!

Range bag/camera bag

by

I really can't say enough about this bag. So simple, yet so awesome and versatile. I got this specifically to be my range bag, but I use it for almost everything. I got the large in tobacco brown. I usually go to the range with 5-8 boxes of ammo, 2-3 pistols, eyewear, earmuffs, and some other random stuff, and It all fits in this bag. Even with all that in there it doesn't hurt my shoulder at all. Just so happens that an insert from one of my dad's old camera bags fits nicely in here with about 3 1/2 inches of extra space. All in all, this bag is so great that I'm considering getting another on so that I don't have to change between a range or camera bag. Only thing keeping from doing that, though, is that the more places I take this amazing bag, the more stories it'll have.

dry bag

I'm a long time buyer of saddleback products..to date I have classic briefcase, the satchel, simple backpack and most recently the dry bag. I bought the dry bag off of Dave's deals.. if there is a flaw in the bag I have yet to find it...I'm a RN working in an Emergency Dept..as such I carry lots of things I need to use while working...by the way I got the larger dry bag...its well built, I love to stuff various things into this bag

and it handles it all...if I had any complaints it would be to make the cinch strap longer...other than that its an awesome bag and lives up to Saddleback products...before I buy any product I research any available product out there. There is lots of leather companies out there...but none that can match the quality of Saddleback products. My next purchase will be the messenger bag....which I intend to use on my excursions this summer. Oh by the way I might mention the staff of Saddleback Leather. They are cheerful, helpful and just a delight to work with....These products might be a little expensive..but they'll serve you well forever....Not many companies out there like this company....Buy just one product from them and you will be hooked forever.. oh I forgot I have the portfolio large and small...the bible cover and the moleskin cover....

Amazing

by

I got this bag as an anniversary gift. I have been carrying it as a purse to break it in and it's fabulous. I plan on using it as a carry on for a trip next week and an overnight bag on a regular bases. I can't say enough about how well made the bag its. It's a great think leather and the hardware is heavy duty. I can see myself using this bag for a million things. Also I loved that part of the price goes to helping people in need.

Story

I was in a little Tunisian medina on the edge of the Sahara, when I saw it- an old old leather bag- and it was for sale. I thought it was absolutely the coolest bag I’d ever laid eyes on, not only because of the aged looking leather, but because it was made of only one solid piece, folded around and sewn to itself. The top just folded over and it closed. I thought, “Man, that is so cool. I’m going to make me something like this one day.” And then I did something that I still regret to this day. I mean, I really don’t have many regrets in life, but this is one of the big ones. I put that bag back down on the table and I walked away. Why didn’t I buy it?!!! Ahhhhh!!! I’m so stupid sometimes. But anyways, that bag is what inspired this Dry Bag, And as I got more into picture taking, I bought a nicer camera and some lenses, and I thought, “You know, it’s time to make that one bag that’s dustproof and keeps things dry.” And voila! Out popped the Dry Bag.

I have both sizes of dry bags. The small one I employ as my insulin and medicine case, while I travel. The large one is excellent for a week end or carry-on bag.

The materials and workmanship are very good.

Love it!

Amazing

I got this bag as an anniversary gift. I have been carrying it as a purse to break it in and it's fabulous. I plan on using it as a carry on for a trip next week and an overnight bag on a regular bases. I can't say enough about how well made the bag its. It's a great think leather and the hardware is heavy duty. I can see myself using this bag for a million things. Also I loved that part of the price goes to helping people in need.
