Awesome but too small.

by

Wonderful design huge fan of SBL and Mountainback however the backpacks are too small. I would consider my self average to slightly above average male build and the backpacks look and feel like a purse on my frame.

If they release an XL version would be all over, regardless of price.

Size isn't everything.

Great bag. It is on the small side, but by no means is it a tiny, ill-fitting bag. I'm 5'9" 160 lbs and it looks great. The quality of this bag is great, and in my personal opinion, the style is even better. If you're looking for an edc bag that isn't bulky and won't get in the way, you won't be disappointed with the simple front pocket backpack.

Love my Simple Front Pocket Backpack!

I have a medium front pocket backpack, but most of the time it's too much bag for what I need. I was looking for something smaller and lighter for EDC and this fits the bill perfectly. Carries everything I need for a normal day with a little room to spare. And this thing is built like a tank! I absolutely love it!! Now to justify getting the front pocket gear bag as well (I'm sure I'll come up with a "logical" reason). You hit this one out of the park Saddleback!

Just received this. Opened it and my first impression was that the quality is over the top. Then after detailed inspection, my impression was that the quality is over the top.

I was a little worried looking at the reviews that this bag might be too small for me. I am 6'2'' and 185lbs and as soon as I got this bag in I put it on and my 13 yr old daughter said, "you wear it like a BOSS Dad!". This bag is perfect and can carry everything I need and more. Cant wait to use the mess out of it!

Love the front pocket

Love the front pocket. Very easy to access. You can open it up without having to open the main enclosure.

They'll FIGHT OVER IT when YOU'RE DEAD……….

…..when my nieces and nephews see this backpack, they will be fighting over it while I am alive !

If a well to do nobleman from the English countryside were to commission the finest craftsman in the land to make him a ONE OF A KIND GEM of a backpack, this would be it. This is textbook example of the perfect balance between ruggedness and refinement. This will truly be a family heirloom.

SIZE DOES MATTER, so depending on the venue, such as a several day trek in the wilderness, then of course I would prefer to have a proportionately enlarged BIG BROTHER VERSION. For a CITY SLICKER that frequents coffee shops and goes on day hikes, this backpack is absolutely as good as it will ever get.

Thank you so much Saddleback Leather Co. for never ever practicing false advertising and using trick photography……if that were the case…….I would be the first to call for THE IMPEACHMENT OF EL PRESIDENTE !

ALOHA FROM THE BEACH OF WAIKIKI !

Great size

Great bag. Size is perfect as an every day carry edc. No one wants an oversized bag to carry around everyday.

The canvas, leather, and hardware in this thing is excellent. Make sure to work the shoulder straps i. Order to see them soft and not dig into you. Other than that, it’s a great bag. Again, the size is perfect.

Just a little too small, small design tweak

by

I bought this bag to carry my stuff to and from the offshore oil rig I work on. Soft bags are needed, since storage space it limited, but I also needed something to protect my computer. The leather armor works great for that. It holds my computer, toiletries, and undergarments well, but fills up fast when trying to add anything else. I also worry about losing the leather slip zip (?) thing that would cinch the top of the bag. I have frequently retied the leather knots in the end. Maybe they could be sewn together at the end to ensure it never comes loose, or some other design besides tying a knot in a 10mm leather cord.

Overall, a great bag, with sturdy design that will handle the frequent helicopter trips easily, and last much longer than I will. Another 7 to 10 cm deeper would be great, it wouldn't look so small on my back and it could carry a lot more.

Story

The Simple Front Pocket Backpack is the opposite of phoned-in. We made house calls for this thing. In researching the Mountainback line, we went to Scotland and toured the mill where the canvas is made. We flew to New Zealand to learn from a third generation sailmaker to understand how to stitch and work with such thick materials. The backpack straps went through countless revisions until the shape was just right for everybody from Johnny Sixpack to Jimmy Lovehandles. We’ve dedicated years of research and development to understanding how to breathe new life into materials as old as history itself.
